I'm a shaver with a goatee. They are a good combo. I have been having some problems with growing a nice looking goatee. Any ideas on how to grow one that looks good?
Thanks

That would depend on your definition of 'looks good'. Different strokes for different folks, etc :)

Patience.

You have to take your time shaving around it once you get it like you want it. Also, I thin mine out about once a week with an inexpensive set of clippers.

I am in between head shaves at the moment and am somewhat scruffy.

Actually, I think you're doing a good job with it. My suggestion would be to make it a little bigger. You may even try letting it widen more as it gets down toward your chin.
You just need to let it grow out some and slowly work on shaping it until you like it.

I was thinking the same thing as well. I just hate letting my beard grow out for two weeks. Itches like hell.

I agree. A little bigger -- but not a lot, and let it grow a little bit longer. I've been gradually been letting mine get longer over the past six months and I'll never go back to a shorter length again. And as I said before, don't shave it and start over again, just expand the boundaries a bit.

Judging by your pick I am going to assume you train the hair with a boars hair brush?

No.

I can't tell exactly but it looks like you cut it just as it goes around your chin. I think you will really like it better if you let it wrap a little further under your chin. It also gives a much better look from the side. I'm guessing at least 2" for you and maybe a little more. This along with letting it get a little wider and longer will probably give you a great look.
Let us know how it works out.

Ill work on it and post the results.

Sorry. I may have been wrong about trying to wrap the goatee under your chin. It's hard to tell from just the front view but if your chin doesn't stick out like mine does, it may not work so well. You'll have to determine that. Thanks RazorX for pointing that out. I don't want to give bad advice.

Mine grows out for a few weeks then gets cut. I'm beginning to like it more as it grows out.

I had mine long before I starting shaving my head. My facial hair is thinner than the one that used O0 to grow on my head (don't know if this is common or not). This fact doesn't help to get a real dense goatee and it means I have to shave my dome daily to have it baby smooth. but I will definetely stay with my bald head and goatee
