Well done, definatley the right choice.
Were you sly before the HCM?
What made you go for HCM? Im just curious as Im only 23 and currently have decided to go along the shaved head route as Im losing my hair(I havent yet shaved but this is my chosen route).

If your wife loves it-you know its the right thing!!

I was SLY and my love for women pushed me to HCM. I wasn't getting the attention that I used to when I had my hair. After recently turning 30, and maturing, I decided 2 important things, 1)I was too insecure about my head and 2)I could use the $400+ monthly for other things. I am glad now that I figured it out before it was too late!

You definately did the right thing.  O0
I somehow doubt that HCM looked better than sly though.

Tom, thanks buddy, I have been getting a great welcome on this site.  Shaving my dome is great, I just hope that eventually it will clear up and the paleness will fade in...been shaving now for a week.

I think part of it is due to the HCM "system" glued in the same place and it being pulled off and put back on in the same spot could be the issue. I use a MACH 3 and some Neutragena shave and aftershave that is supposed to protect against the irritation.

On top of that, because of the paleness, I haven't been confident to not wear a hat in the gym. There are a lot of women there.

try this.. chill on the shaving for a few days.. allow your head to heal ...maybe use an electric razor for awhile.......are you shaving in the shower or sink?...shower is best..it softens the hair much better and easier clean up..

post us up some pics so we can see what your talking about..

I use moisturizer to prevent irritation.  HeadLube is pretty good and lacks any oils or perfumes that will clog your pores.

Welcome YOSP, After 13 years and megabucks of wearing a "system" I realized how it was controlling me (constant fear of discovery, time and money spent for service, never quite looking right) I ditched and have been shaving for a week now. This was a truly liberating experience. The scalp will take a little time to recover from the abuse of the adhesives and being covered with the system. I have been using the Headblade products: Head Shed to start, Head Slick, Head Lube and Head Shade. Fortunately I am on vacation and able to get sun, after a week am finally starting to get some color. I am trying to avoid a burn as my scalp is still pale.
You are making the right decision, I think you will feel like a huge weight has been lifted off of you....that's how i felt and am enjoying every day this past week.

Welcome YOSP!!!  Thanks for the insight on the "other" option, my wife has always talked about it and your story among many others here at SBG is helping her see the light!!!

Thanks for the welcome from everyone. Its great to know others that experience the same stuff. As far as wearing the "system" goes, I feel like a new man, ready to begin a new chapter in life...I'M FREE AT LAST!!! After all the time spent with HCM, I would not recommend it to anyone...I thought it would help me, when it actually limited me in ways.

Welcome YOSP!!  I had considered HCM many times and had been to consultations with them.  I was unsure how I would maintain the system while deployed to the Persian Gulf.  They tried to tell me it would be no problem (whatever :-\).  I never went through with it, and going Sly was the best decision I ever made.

NAVRN WHATS UP? Its hard enough trying to get the stylists to get the hair right, you would have been trying to fix it and cut it by yourself out there...you made the right decision.

Hey NAVRN, looking good. O0  You did indeed make the right choice.  I'm sure you already find many guys in the service with the shaved look, so you should fit right in with them.  Another advantage of shaving it all off is that you don't have to lather sunscreen in your hair for anyone who is balding.  By the way, thank you for your service!

Welcome aboard YOSP. Looking good! You made two great decisions - shaving and joining this web site.

I can relate to the HCM thing. I wasted my money for more than 10 years on that. As someone else said here, the system is very limiting and there is always the worry about being discovered. I did not have mine permanently attached and took it off every night. I missed so many opportunities to do activities I wanted to do, but was afraid my "system" would come off. A little over two weeks ago, I was on top of the Empire State Building. I walked around a corner on the observation deck and just about lost my hair. It was really windy. That finally did it for me. I threw my system in the trash and shaved when I got home from my trip. Its been very liberating. Almost all the comments I have received were very positive. Head rubs are another benefit!
