Title: Not so hairy anymore

Hiya guys. I'm a 42 year-old guy who has always worn my hair long with a big damn beard, but I'm really thinning out on top and am thinking about shaving the old pate. Any thoughts about keeping the beard? I've had it since I was 19 and shaving both just might be too much of a shock. Plus, they might not let me in at work. :)

P.S. Not the best pic, but gives you and idea.

I would keep the beard.  Of course I am prejudiced on that one.  I am currently at a 4 month length in terms of my beard.  I look at it this way, you can shave the dome and keep the beard and see how it looks.  If you don't like it, you can trim it down, shave it off or shape it into a Van Dyke.  But there are a few people on this site that sport full beads and shave heads and some with huge beards and shaved heads!

Thinning on top? I'd say you're pretty much there(bald) already. Buzz the sides first and then see if you want to bic it.

Definitely keep the beard.  If you check out more of the threads here you will see that there are quite a few members that opt for a beard with the sly dome.

Just use the clipper, and then the blade--above the ears.  Enjoy.

Not quite as close as I'd like, still a little stubble feeling, but done!

Wow, my head is ugly! hope it improves with a little light and air.

Now go buy yourself a HeadBlade and smooth things up!  When you do that and get more sun, the dome will probably improve!

Now that wasn't so bad....was it???  The dome and beard look great!  Don't do anything to it....except grow the beard longer!   >:D
