Title: Makeup?
Post by: Daven on June 19, 2011, 09:41:18 PM
Ok, so I am NOT about to start powdering or put base foundation my head. I was just wondering if there are any occasions that any of you do? I see some celeb's with such picture perfect heads, I know they have to put makeup on their faces for the camera, but do they put makeup on their whole head?

My dad's best friend (since kindergarden - 72 years) Bob,  had been BBC for 30 years and when he went out for a formal night he put makeup on his head to make it look "nicer". He passed away 2 years ago on St. Patricks day.

So, yeah, I'm not about to do that but wondered if anyone here put "touch-up-paint" on their head as Bob used to.

When you go on the air and have  a bright, shiny dome it's necessary to powder it down or...quick and dirty...spray it with hair spray to reduce the reflectivity.  Is that makeup? Probably, at least television considers it as such.

Since I'll more than likely never be called to make an appearance on television I'll more than likely never put make-up on my dome.

Well, having just finished my run as Oliver Warbucks in "Annie" (the reason I went sly to begin with), I had to wear makeup on my whole head while on stage -- to keep the complexion even and not "ghostly" under the stage lights, to cut out the glare, etc. I gotta tell ya, it was weird getting the whole dome done with foundation and powder. And, up close, it looked very artificial. But under the stage lights it came out just fine.

But off stage? Makeup? On the streets? Nah. Can't imagine any setting where I'd do that.

I've had grease paint on my head when I dressed up as Captain Spaulding from House of 1000 Corpses/Devil's Rejects last Halloween.  Does that count?

Not only would I not wear it, I prefer most women to wear less than they do.

Then again, some women are a little scary without makeup:

I think the celebs I've seen who looked the worst without make up are Cher, Barbra Streisand, and Liza Minnelli. Barbra, in particular, was very scary.

When women say that they are going to put on their face they sure aren't kidding.

The really awful thing about that picture is that I cant figure out whether she's wearing make up or not :o

I read an article about how Hollywood stars hate high-def movies and TV because they show off all the imperfections.  Some even have clauses written into their contracts that require a softening of the focus on close-ups.

As far as women and make-up, it amazes me h\that so many women don't know when to stop putting it on.  It's one thing to wear make-up, but it's another thing to have it look like it was put on with a putty knife.

Yes, Hollywood stars depend on makeup to keep their contracts rolling big bucks for them.  Look at Joey Lawrence, for instance.  Poor handsome guy !  Just be bald and gay and don't worry about it.  Link attached:
