Title: A SLY Cartoonist

One Scott Meyer, whom I'd never heard of until he was recommended by another Scott, Scott Adams of "Dilbert," also a cartoonist of limited graphic ability.

Meyer posts a new one about 3X/week.  It's well worth it to go back into his very extensive archive and work forward--so as to become familiar with some of the recurrent characters--"best friend" Rick; idiot Jenkins; the "mullet-haired boss;" and the super-heros "Rocket Hat," and "Ubiquitous Man" .  It took me a bit to understand (I'm slow) that he's really not much of a draftsman--he has a traced set of versions of many of his regular characters made from photographs and arranges them in various ways for each new cartoon.  The cartoon is text-driven and many of them are real hoots.  Frankly, funnier than "Dilbert."

His wife, "Missy," has a prominent role in some of the cartoons, and has a blog of her own:

Which is less interesting, unless you like reviews of books, gluten-free recipes, photos of their two cats, discussions of Crohn's disease, and "American Idol" reviews.  But eventually I saw a picture of Scott Meyer there.  He flatters himself in his drawings by removing all shadow (and why not?  It's his cartoon).  Clearly, from the photo, a horseshoe MPB guy, but the neat goat in the cartoons was not much in evidence in one or two of the pix I saw.  Well, we all change our styles from time to time.

Take a look.

Little known SBG fact: The original outline for the SBG logo was designed by a Sly cartoonist by the name of Robert who was one of the original members.
