I've had a few razor bumps that have become almost chronic. Get a good shave and then whammo, they show up. After looking at and trying several of the bump remedies on the market I decided to try something. All of the products have the same basic active ingredient = salisylic acid (which is what plain old aspirin breaks down to in the body).
So I took a couple of cheap generic aspirin - without the fancy coating (bottle of 100 about a buck) - and put them into a very small spice bowl. Added just a few drops of water and let them sit a few minutes to dissolve. Turned into a paste which I then applies with a clean finger to the problem spots.
The paste dries to a white flakey patch after a few minutes - I leave it on for about 15 minutes and then wipe off with a damp facecloth. The bumps are significantly better after doing this for a few days.
I'm wondering how this approach will work if I crush the aspirin and then mix it into something like aloe vera gel in order to keep it in place longer, such as overnight.
