My name is Ridge. Yes, it's my real name.
Anyways, I must admit that I've lurked around for quite some time. Now, as you can see, we're finally getting to introductions.
A little background. Aka, the usual. Once upon a time I had really beautiful, blondish brown hair that ran down to my shoulders. Then genetics kicked in and decided that such a fate wouldn't be had for eternity. This was around the ages of sixteen and seventeen so you can imagine just how traumatic that was.
For the next few years, I pretended it wasn't a problem. Then I became depressed, withdrawn, insecure, and my self-esteem was pretty much dead. I'd decided that I had enough. Implants didn't sound appealing to me as much as they did barbaric. The comb-over? Ha! The short haircut? Well, yeah okay but I kinda looked stupid and it brought that much more attention to me trying to cover up the recession. So I shaved it. Off and on. This time I'm vowing to do it for good. However, something holds me back. This weird self-consciousness. Am I alone in this?
Great site by the way. Useful advice, nice guys... but I won't do a commercial. Though endorsement deals sound lucrative...

Welcome to SBGs!!! 8)

I'm sure you're not alone and I applaud you. It might not be easy for you and the transition might be hard but look at it this way, your past the point of no return. After reading what you experienced it is virtually impossible to go back, its much more suiting and applicable to move forward so move on with great stride.
You might get used to it, you might not but the thing you should be proud of is that you did it.

Welcome. Stick to the 30 day challenge. It's a whole new routine, so give yourself time to get used to it. At first I was always concious of my reflection or shadow (my ears!) - now I don't even think to look. There's plenty of help here for any questions you have.

Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the forum Ridge. Once you make the decision to keep it shaved, it does get easier and better every day. Give it the thirty days and you'll see.

Welcome it suits you

Hey man, you're definitely not alone. 19 was when I started losing my hair. I think the 30 days (at least) is key. You need to give yourself a chance to adjust, and adjust you will. Some people need less time than others it seems, but there is a good reason so many people harp on 30 days here. In any case, you pull off the look well!! Keep it going!!
