I realize this whole sly thing is still new for me, so I'm still running into friends who are seeing it for the first time. The reactions continue to amuse me.
But here's a weird one: People wanna rub my head. Like it's Buddha's tummy or something offering them good luck. Now, I have to admit, I kind of enjoy the feeling of running my hands over my smooth scalp myself. It still feels novel and new and cool (and, well, weird with a little bit of that lingering numbness in the back still). But I don't think I've ever felt inclined to rub my hand on anyone's head. I know pregnant women run into this, but I always figured it's 'cause people are hoping to feel the baby kick or something... and I really, truly hope nothing is gonna be kicking around inside my skull that's worth feeling.
How 'bout you? Have you run into this? How do you respond? For me, I just kind of lean forward and let 'em have at it. The reactions are part of that amusing response for me (guys tend to kind of linger and rub it back and forth, like petting a dog, while women often pull back suddenly and say something about it feeling weird).
Ah, it's the little things in life, eh...?

I'm only recently bald and I've had this today, once from a virtual stranger and several times from friends. For luck seems to be the main reason but I think it must just be pure curiosity. I kind of like it but hopefully once the novelty wears off it will stop. My friends wife just offered to give me a head massage and it felt unbelievable, if it was like that every time I'd be fully up for it.
-
I haven't had a head rub in several years. :(
-
Nope, never happens to me. :Xo!
-
It happened to me during the first week or so of being sly. I was in a casino and this older woman asked if she could give a rub for luck. Different......
-
Happened again last night. A teenage girl came over and just started rubbing my scalp. No words, no asking, just rubbing my head. So I turned to the woman next to me and asked if that's how pregnant women felt, which led to a conversation about people just coming up and touching pregnant bellies and bald head. And the girl just stood there rubbing my head as we talked about how presumptious it was.
So very weird. I think I'm gonna have to draw some lines...
:x!
-
Yeah DEFINITELY draw the line at teens and younger....
-
Happens all the time - - -I have several friends who are bald and we do not shake hands anymore we just rub each others bald dome - - -
I have a bunch of trooper friends and we all rub each others bald dome - - -I do not know a state trooper around here who has hair anymore and it may be from all the bald dome rubbing
-
No.
-
Happens to me fairly frequently...
-
It hasn't happened to me yet but I wouldn't mind.
-
Only one. A female friend that I run into during the summer.
-
It's never happened to me. Maybe it's that whole approachability thing? :-\
-
I average about 1.5 headrubs a week I guess. O0

Went to a wedding last night, and there were friends who hadn't seen me sly yet. Several positive comments, which was nice. Then, at the reception, I was seated at the edge of the room so that everyone walked right by my chair on their way to the buffet. My back was to the line, so they were passing behind me. Several times I would suddenly feel someone's hand on my head rubbing my scalp as they walked by. Bwa ha ha ha!
(Oh, yeah, one cool moment came when a friend -- who has been sly since I've known him -- came up and asked me what I'm using to shave. I explained my delight with the Headblade, and a couple of other guys gathered around to say that they've been thinking of shaving it all off as well. Nifty! I've become a spokesman for being sly! Bwa ha ha ha!
-
Everybody wants to rub my head! The only exception was my four year old neices, they are not used to the new sly Uncle Brian yet. They ran away!Hopfully they will snap out of it soon......
-
Happened again last night.
I would take it as a compliment. Either you're so approachable that total strangers will come up to you -- or it's like cats that always go to the person that is allergic to them and don't want them around.
-
I'm in a culturally diverse part of the world and I've recently discovered that in some circles there is a really strong taboo about touching a man's head. Some ladies happily target my head (without asking!), but the reaction of horror from others alerted me to the wider context :o
-
I first shaved my head in 1980, a time when it was not very common. I went with a friend, actually my boss, to a bar in the town area. We sat at the bar for sometime having a beer. At some point a guy from the back part came up and started rubbing my head. I didn't mind. I suspect this was a gay bar which my friend had selected. He later retired to Key West and with his wife bought and operated a well known gay bar in that city.

Yep I get alot of head rubs. I think it has to do with especially me being just 19 it's so different from all the kids who have hair. Some people say it feels cool, others wierd, but either way bring on the head rubs! O0
-
Over 2 years sly and no headrub yet. Maybe it's the old "don't pet him and he'll go away" treatment. :Xo!
-
Might get one or two a week

I can imagine at your age you would get lot of attention. but can also imagine your enjoyment.

Yes - I've had several people ask if the could rub /touch my head. The most unusual experience was about two weeks after going sly when I was at an all day business meeting. At the outset, I noticed a woman from one of our satellite offices looking at me. When I caught her eyes, she smiled. During lunch, a group of people walked behind me and suddenly I felt a hand run over my bald head. I turned and saw she was in the group that passed. Later in the meeting I sent her a text asking if she had rubbed my head. The response was to the point: "it's irresistible!" Best all-day meeting I've been to in a long time!
-
Have had the head rubbed more than a few times. Sometimes by the wife, but I've never refused a head rub from anybody.
-
I don't turn them down either. My wife told me last night how much she loves to rub my smooth head. I asked what she thought of the look and she said "it's great - I love it too!"
-
I've had a few friends ask to rub my head. It's only been a week, though.
Years ago I wore a goatee and went a loooong time without trimming it. Got many ZZ Top comments. A few times women (typically in bars) would ask if they could braid it. If I was alone, I'd tell them they could if they were sitting in my lap. My offer was never refused!
-
I had a business meeting this morning and two women separately asked if they could rub my head. This is now the third time in a professional setting that I've had people ask to rub my head.
-
Now and then I get asked. But I'm told I look very intimidating??? So maybe I scare some way. Boo!
-
Yes, both when I'm completely bald or with a few days hair growth. I have to admit I love the feeling of my sly head, so my hands are frequently copping a feel... ;D
-
Hasn't really happened to me but wouldn't mind.
Only my son does it from time to time

I like the feel of my head, too. Frequently rub it myself. Wife and daughters will now rub my head. I encourage it (with them).
-
I like the feel, too, especially right after a shave - something nice about the smooth dome.
-
yeah some of my friends rub my head hehe..cuz this is the 1st time theyve seen me this way
-
People do want to rub my head however, that's only possible when I'm sitting. I'm six five and if they try i when I'm standing it looks as if they're going in for a driving lay up.....
-
Once in awhile when I am buffed up and super slick my lovely wife will rub it and tell me that it's, "guang hua" (very smooth), but nobody outside of the castle.
:(
-
welcome!
-
Some fans (females, thank god!) do lick my head during the show. Does that count?
-
yep, they tend to touch it, to feel it, especially my girlfriend.

I have had a few ask permission to rub my head but none who did so without asking. But when my beard was long, I got a lot of the beard braiding requests and ZZ Top comments.
My favorite "stupid beard comment" came from a (probably insane, definitely stupid) waitress I had known for years in a restaurant where I had lunch regularly with a large group of friends. For some reason totally inexplicable to me, the crazy waitress walked up to me one day and said, "I have never had sex with a man with a beard!"
My friends exploded in laughter while I am sure I turned redder than a plum. I replied to her, "I can believe that, and so far as I am concerned, YOU NEVER WILL!!!!!"
A week after I first went BBC in August, 2009, my artist began the lion tattoo on my head. It was completed on October 20, 2009. I get many comments about the tattoo, much more than about being bald. While I am sure many people disapprove or dislike it, only one has ever said so directly to me. But I get a lot of positive comments and many stupid questions about it. What I get rather than requests to rub my bald head are requests to take a picture of my tattooed scalp. Perhaps they are afraid he might bite if they pet him!
In any event, I love being bald. And I love being tattooed. And being bald and tattooed is undescribably FUN!
-
Yes. I ve had coworkers joke about waxing and polishing it and using it as a bowling ball. I work with a number of men that shave daily and have had coworkers test to see which one of us had the closest shave and slickets head.
-
I have it happen now and then, mainly from friends who do it to be funny since I'm the only one sly out of them.
-
No head rub requests here. It maybe because I am 6'7" and people can't reach it.
-
Once ever so often...but most places I go nowadays have sly guys all over the place so maybe the novelty has worn off...kind of like the fad/in thing in school...it was cool when only a few had it but it died down when the majority got it...
-
Yea, it happens to me all the time. People loves bald heads O0

I have quite a few BALD friends - -a few state troopers and we do not shake hands any more - -we just RUB each others BALD DOME - -
We have been doing it for years - - -
Yes, at times at a bar people will ask to rub - -Last night at Savona Restaurant - -the bartender and I always rub each others BALD DOME. . .
The problem with letting people rub your dome is that you lose your GLOSSY SHINE- - -
-
Most people don't ask my permission. They just walk up and start rubbing it O0 Some ladies ask permission but, needless to say, they never get turned down.

That's pretty cool.
-
That is awesome. WIsh someone would rub mine. It would feel; good.

If a guy comes up to you and rubs your head, perhaps it's a sign that he is a SBG.
-
Good point. Thanks. Looking forward to the 21st when you do the deed. You will love it. I sure do.
-
Sc00ter,
Your dome looks great!
I like to compliment some bald guys on how great their dome looks. Some don't know how to react. Others seem to appreciate the compliment. I feel good about being sly. My self confidence has improved a lot. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.
Happy New Year!

Any guy that comes up to me and rubs my head is a guy who's about to get his ass kicked. :x!

For a total stranger, I can understand that. For a buddy or good friend? It's an insider's handshake.
-
I agree with Mango and mrzed. I would like some discretion.
-
I sure didn't allow any hard tail to touch my pony tail and the rule is the same with my shiny gourd. But of course when a "PYT" enters the equation there may be a double standard...get my drift?

I get many head rubs. When I first did it I only got them from family. Slowly friends started to ask if they could touch it "just to see what it feels like" which a touch turns to a rub quickly. Then at work I had regular customers who loved the feel. I got a date because a customer always came in and stared at my noggin. One day she came and asked to rub it for good luck. The next time she came in she suggested that we hang out so we went out for dinner a couple times then just stopped talking.
Here at the farmstead we have bonfires from time to time where we invite friends who invite friends and so on. The last one we had was maybe 20 people and of those there were 6 that rubbed my head. Just like life, there is a time and place for everything. If I was in the bathroom that is a definite no rub zone. If I'm eating dinner on a date, no rub time. But at a bonfire/party/work/other get together it is mostly ok.
One of my fans used to be haired til he rubbed my head. He had a full head of hair but his girlfriend and I are good friends and one night she couldnt keep her hands off it. He was envious so she invited him to come feel how smooth and soft it was. He did it and said it felt like doe skin. The next day he had me come over and buzz it down for him then he razored it smooth and has been smooth ever since. He said something along the lines of "If I would have never felt how smooth being bald was, I would still have hair"
-
People don't really rub my head, but there have been people who have just casually passed their hand over my scalp. Like earlier today, I ran into a classmate and it was the first time he saw me sly. He came up to me and while shouting "woohoow!" he just ran his hand over my head once. Not even a careful rub, but almost like you'd pat on someone's shoulder or upper arm in a "yo buddy"-style.
-
Seems to be a huge thing with females, they love to rub my head :L

First, I thought it was my private perversion. It is such a nice feeling.
Anyway, though there are many bald or very short haired guys in my environment, I would never rub anyone else's head than my boyfriend's... I don't like coming too close to others, and I assume they feel the same. Leaving some space for others is a sign of respecting their privacy.
(Of course, there can be different and special rituals among close friends... or something.)
-
Yesterday was a great example. I was at a local winter festival thing in town with some friends. She loves my smooth head and can never keep her hands off of it. Well yesterday she was rubbing it then told her friend to rub it because it felt so soft. Pretty soon I had 6 people rubbing my head and complimenting it. I don't mind too much as long as they don't have nasty hands
-
I know what your talking about. I'm a fifth grade teacher and kids are constantly wanting to rub my and it kind of creeps me out. I tell them "Don't Touch the Head!"
RD

I had one head rub yesterday. Other than that, most people are just talking about it. I expect that to change as I meet more people, though. I'm a student at Penn State, and one of the only bald students I've seen. I have seen multiple bald professors, but they are all older. I might be one of the only guys my age bald on this campus of 35,000+.
-
When people rub mine or ask to then I always reply, "that'll be a dollar.". I wouldn't let a stranger rub but if a buddy comes up and runs it doesn't usually bother me.
-
I almost had a bad head rub today. I was at the feed store just shootin' bull with some friends when one of them went to touch my head. Instant ninja kicked in when I saw his hands were all rough and covered in auto grease. He kinda chuckled and said "Can't I just touch it?" and my response was "Rubbing my head is a privilege, not a right" which caused him to back off some. When ladies touch it with their soft hands it is good, when buddies (with clean hands) touch it I don't mind, when random people with poop covered hands want to touch it I turn into a jerk
-
Got a head rub today from a cute girl at school. Also got her number. Cha-ching! O0
-
I get a few headrubs - people always seem to approve!

U lucky dog u! I would kill for a sexy woman's hand across my dome right now...
-
Yea, I'm probably at an advantage because 1. I'm on a college campus loaded with hot women and 2. They don't get to see many bald heads because most college-aged guys either haven't lost enough hair yet to think about shaving or they don't have the stones.
Either way, I'm not complaining! O0
-
I have to say I have found being bald helps to "meet" people! O0
-
Certainly a conversation starter
-
More people notice me now, that is for sure.
-
O0 Well i don't really mind being rub on my head for as long as the person rubbing my head don't make fun of me... I have had more than 50 rubs from different people for 3 months... The funny thing is that almost all the rubs came from women, and women way below my age... Sort of caressing my head. They were excited to touch my head and always smile and look at me intently... I really don't know why... Maybe I'm approacheable and friendly and yet dignified. O0 O0
-
When I first had my head shaved everyone wanted to either rub my smooth scalp or touch it. Although I felt somewhat embarrassed about this "weird" curiosity, I allowed people to touch or rub it. Still, now, my mother will touch my scalp on occassion - I think she's now used to the idea that this is what I am going to be - Bald by choice. Almost every day my wife will either touch my bald head or kiss it - I think she's checking to see if there is any stubble, which she now dislikes seeing on me. :)
-
I have not had anybody ask to rub my head. Maybe I do look to mean lololololol :):)
-
Try a smile once in a while, and things may change in your favor. ;)
-
Hey guys i had accidental rub on my head during our Musicale production number rehearsal today... The lady who accidentally rub/touched my head were so elated and share with others that she was so privilege to touch it... Well the feeling is the same with me ha ha ha O0
-
Have had it happen multiple times. Sometimes friends ask and sometimes its a sneak attack. Sometimes I get the "its for good luck" thing. Their reaction to the feel varies haha. I think it's always a friendly gesture and I definitely appreciate the positive feedback.
Idk if you guys ever do this, but sometimes, if i can tell their eyeing it, i'll just ask 'em if they wanna rub it. It's usually funny. Works great on the waitress if she's being flirty.
-
I haven't had the head rub opportunity for awhile. But at my 30th High School reunion, I did have a couple of hot women want to rub my head. One of then was a former University of Washington cheerleader! I have to say that was NICE! ;D 8) O0
