In 7 hours, I'll be sly.
As I mentioned on the Intro forum, I'll be playing Oliver Warbucks in a local production of "Annie." This evening I'll finally shave the last of my fuzz away. The rest of the cast got haircuts and colors at last Saturday's rehearsal, but I kept my (very shortly buzzed) top fuzz and goatee because I was away at a speaking engagement. Now it's time to catch up and look the part.
I'm actually really excited. Really. I'm looking forward to seeing the difference. And pardon me if this sounds creepy, but I'm looking forward to running my hand across my smooth scalp. Just curious what it'll be like.
:D

Not creepy at all ... it's been nearly two years for me, and I still love the feel of running my hand across my bare scalp O:O

Creepy??? He)) NO !! that's one of the BEST parts. It just feels so good. And, most likely, you'll have this weird sort of numb feeling on hte back of your head. My guess is within a few days you'll be like most of the rest of us and start looking for a razor once you get just a bit of stubble poking through.
One word of caution - BE VERY AWARE OF THE SUN. Even just a short buzz has done alot to keep the scalp shaded and it can burn quickly. Keep a sunscreen on it when outside and let the color build up naturally over time. The Jergens Natural Glow will speed up evening out your coloring but it will not protect you from the sun.
Enjoy the experience, I bet you're going to love it. And, oh yeah, let's see some before and after shots..

Enjoy the experience. After a lazy weekend I am so enjoying smoothness again! Hardly creepy, really nice!!
-
All done. And I like it! My wife has been VERY nice -- if she hates it, she hasn't given any clue.
It went fairly well. Took a little longer than I thought to get it really, really smooth for the first time. But no major cuts or burns (well, a little one on my chin when I took off the goatee, but that's because I started going more quickly and carelessly).

good work!

Sly looks great on you. Great job for your first shave!
You'll get the process down once you learn the landscape. Shaving the scalp takes a but longer to learn than your face did - much more variation in the direction of growth.

Enjoy

Thanks for the encouragement, guys. You're awesome!
It's day 3, and I still like it. I've had some funny reactions, but that was to be expected. I went to rehearsal about 90 minutes after shaving. Between that and posting a Facebook pic, I've already encountered the following:
- The show's director didn't even notice. Someone had to point it out that I was shaved and ready. *sigh*
- My wife was really positive. I think she hates it, but she still hasn't let on. Awesome woman. :D
- I have one daughter still at home. She has said nice things but seems a bit creeped out. She won't touch it. Ha ha ha! Her older brother and sister will be back from college this weekend, so we'll see what kind of reaction they give.
- One cast member saw me and started laughing out loud. He couldn't stop. He finally came over and gave me a hug and felt bad, but then walked away laughing again. ???
- Someone has already called me Mr. Clean.
- Someone has already called me Capt. Picard.
- Lots of people have called me Daddy Warbucks... but that's a good thing in this case, right?
- Several people have been staring at my scalp when talking to me... as if I wouldn't notice that they're not looking me in the eye. Too funny.
- A couple of people have cautiously asked if they could touch it. Is this what pregnant women go through?
- One person says it feels as smooth as a baby's butt. That immediately led to a new nickname for a couple of hours: "butthead." :o
- A few people said it makes me look younger, though one pointed out it may be because they don't see the white streaks in my beard or temples anymore.
- A couple of old friends from childhood and high school said I look more like the guy they remembered. I'm thinking it's the cleanshaven face and not the scalp (I used to have medium-length hair back in those days).
- My favorite facebook comment was someone asking me when I'm going to pull out my mega-robots and go kill Superman.
I've shaved twice now in three days. I love the Headblade, and I love Headslick! Great stuff! I got the hang of the razor by the second shave and it just feels natural. I'm getting a better feel for which way the hair grows on my scalp -- who knew I had kind of a swirly pattern going in the back?
I've decided that I don't like the "sandpaper" feel after a day. I like it when the scalp feels kinda slippery. So I'm guessing I'll be shaving daily in pursuit of that perfectly smooth feeling.
Not too happy with the pale areas that have been revealed, so I'm trying to get a few minutes of sun each day (yes, I'm being careful!). I may give that Jergens stuff a try as well; turns out my wife has used it and liked it okay.
