Post by: sailor61 on March 24, 2011, 06:26:38 PM: I was forced into buying a new laptop this week (Toshiba Satellite) and I'm very happy with it. Came with Windows 7 which is much friendlier to use than the Vista that was on the HP that croaked. The new one also has IE9 on it - in my limited use it has performed well. Somethings are different in appearance but it has been fairly simple to adapt to.

Post by: IRONHORSE on April 12, 2011, 11:06:51 AM: In all honesty, the only thing I use IE for is Windows updates. For everything else, I use Firefox, or Google Chrome. I have zero confidence in IE - and FF is faster, more secure, more customizable, and just all-around better than IE in every way.

It has nothing to do with usability -- which is something each of you can decide upon on your own -- but rather with security concerns.

Post by: buddha on April 13, 2011, 02:48:12 PM: I was having trouble for weeks logging into SBG. I would enter my name and password and hit enter and get a "wrong password" response. I would re-enter the same password and get connected. After I switched to Chrome this stopped. I had IE8 running prior. I used FF years ago, I don't remember any specific problems with it but I'm happy with Chrome.

There isn't an IT expert I know that won't tell you that Firefox and Chrome are more secure and/or faster. Not one. There's a reason for that.

It's not personal toward anybody, it's just a consensus based on a lot of experience.
