Post by: deman on March 04, 2011, 11:42:25 AM: Hey guys. I found this site and decided to join. I responded to a different topic, so I'll introduce myself here. Started losing hair at 19 and at 22 started wearing "hair". I actually don't think I look too bad with it but I'm 40 now, happily married for 12 years and have two awesome daughters and I believe I'm done with covering up. The discomfort, cost, worry if someone "notices" has taken its toll. I was recently laid off from my sales job (it's okay, my wife does quite well) and I knew it was coming as they told us all last month that this was coming. So that's when I started thinking, what better time to shave it all off than while I'm home looking for something new. I am in need of a new hairpiece, but I am NOT buying one! My goatee is growing in nicely, and my wife even tells me that she finds some bald men "sexy" O0! (Why didn't she say so before?!) It's so cool that you guys formed this site, I wish it were here 18 years ago! Any advise for dealing with, well, anything would be appreciated! I will keep you all posted......

Buss the remains as short as possible, get in a hot shower, lather it up and get rid of it.
Then get on with life.

Might sound harsh but, most likely, you'll be saying the same thing to other guys in about a month. It is SO much better, at least for me. Mine never got to the rug point but it still bothered me, much more than I ever realized.

And WELCOME to the forum. Post some pictures when you get a chance.

Congratulations. Feels great to finally get it over with and not have to worry about it anymore, doesn't it?

I'm still getting used to this look but I think my wife and kids are used to it already. My biggest issue is I still tend to grab the baseball cap if I'm going out.....I will get over it, just takes a little time. Thanks again, guys for all the support you give not to only me but to all who are in need of it!

Wear the cap if you want to, or if it makes you comfortable. Just keep in mind that you don't have anything to hide under it any more. Your new appearance is your choice, not an accident of genetics - and it looks great.

It's probably not the preffered method by you experienced sly guys, I use this shave oil stuff I read about and shave it down with a Panasonic foil shaver. It comes out smooth although I have never used a blade so I'm not sure if that is much different. Has anyone else used this method? 8) It seems to work great and it's pretty quick although it could be easy to miss some areas if not careful.....BTW, had my first "objection" to the sly look today.....I told her to get used to it cuz I am not "going back" to hair (she didn't know I wore hair). Feelin' better about sly every day! (wife is, too! O0)

I'll be removing the "hair" and shaving my head this weekend. Any regrets so far?? What does it feel like to get rid of the "hair" after so many years??

I'll admit, I'm still seeing people who remember me with "hair" and it may seem a little awkward but I tell them I did a St Baldrick's head shaving event and now I'm liking the look. (BTW, it's a great charity to give to....just Google it) Seeing kids with the unfortunate condition they're in put a whole new perspective on things. And it's a great way to "push" yourself over the edge and just do it! There's not a whole lot more I can tell you as I have only been sly for less than two weeks....but these guys on here are great motivators! Good luck and let us all know how it goes this weekend! O0
