Title: Shaving my head with a straight razor.

Well i ventured into the world of straight razors a couple months ago. Its great, i love using it and i have gotten good with it pretty fast. In fact, i shave my entire head with it, i just go by feel on the back.

It can be done!

I can actually shave my head in about 5 minutes or less.  Its not as scary as one may think. I can do my face and head in ten min or less depending on my mood and time constraints. 

Really, it you have a steady hand, id say try it.

I am very interested in this. I just joined today, and found this site looking for advice or what to expect in using a straight razor to shave my head. My mother is a beautician/barber and has some straight razors. I am thinking about borrowing one to use, but it is a bit intimidating.

Are the advantages of using a straight razor that much more noticeable? Is it easier/smoother/more comfortable?

I use a straight razor with a disposable blade so I don't have to worry about stroping and honing and all that stuff. I get a closer shave and less irritation that with the multiblade cartridges. I did cut my self (superficial cuts) the first two times, but once I learned to hold it correctly I had no problems.

I think I'm going to have to pass on this one and stick with the Schick.

I have a friend who uses a straight razor and he gets a real close shave  -  best shave ever  - and only every other day  - - -

I love to feel a real smooth  melon

I love shaving my face with a straight razor, but I haven't tried my head yet. I might have to try it. Granted, there is no way I can do it in five minutes.

When I was a kid my father told me of a guy who was shaving with a straight razor.
The guy sneezed and his head rolled out or the window.

on my days off, i will use a straight razor to shave my head, on days when iam busy ill use a headblade

My Grandpa used one of these razors for face shaving. I tried one once - real bloody mess!  Here in UK they were/are known as "cut-throat razors". Nuff said.

It works really good but I'm not that great at the back and left side by my ear.

Kind of bloody but it feels good and clean.
