How many of you guys use Netflix Streaming?
If you do, what are some good videos that you've watched?
I watched a documentary on PBR bullriders last night called "Bullriders." It was a great documentary that gives you a whole new appreciation for the sport even if you are already a fan.

I love Netflix Streaming. I know that no matter where I go, if I tote my laptop along I can always find something good to watch. I love any well-made documentary and will check out the bull riders one. Here are a few that I watched that I enjoyed:
The King of Kong - My favorite of them all, details 2 guys trying to break the Donkey Kong World Record. Absolutely fantastic, watch this.
Dogtown and Z boys - Interesting documentary about the birth of modern day skateboarding.
Touching the Void - About a mountain climbing expedition gone wrong.
Run for Your Life - About the life of Fred Lebow, founder of the NY Road Runners.
The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill - Sounds strange, but it's pretty good. About a flock of wild parrots and the semi-homeless guy that cares for them.
Super High Me - About a comedian who smokes pot all day long for 30 days. Funny.
Man on Wire - About a tight rope walker who wants to cross the twin towers.
This one isn't available for streaming, but it is great:
Riding Giants - Documentary about the history of big wave riding. Really good.
-
I never watched too many on the computer...but once the Wii was capable, I got hooked...
I watch a lot of good movies...the one that stands out that is available is "Crossroads"...
NOT THE BRITTANY SPEARS MOVIE, but the movie from the mid-80s with Ralph...Ma...Mac...you know, the Karate Kid dude...
-
I use it on my PS3 (and soon on the AppleTV that's wrapped up under the tree), but haven't watched too much yet. Their streaming library is still pretty meager. I look forward to the day when more of the mainstream titles are available.
Some I have watched:
Modern Marvels: The Manhattan Project
Batman: Under the Red Hood
Dead Space: Downfall
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
From Dusk Till Dawn

I can't say enough good things about Netflix Streaming. BootedBear is right; there aren't many new releases, but I wouldn't say their streaming library is meager. I've watched hundreds of movies that I haven't seen in years and there are tons of hidden gems that I missed when they were new. You just have to search around a little.
The value is outstanding. If you don't want to get DVDs or BluRays in the mail you can have unlimited streaming for $7 a month. Seven dollars. That's close to the price of a single physical copy rental from Blockbuster back in the day.

all 9 seasons of "coach". i need not say more.
-
Do you guys watch this stuff on your PCs or on TV? And what is the video quality like? I'm guessing that it's not possible to stream in hi def yet -- but are the films at least in widescreen?

TV
And what is the video quality like?
I'd rate it better than broadcast TV, but not quite as sharp as DVD.

Not sure, I'm not on the HD plan. And yes.
-
I've used my xbox, laptop and iPhone. if they offer it
in HD and your connection is fast enough, it WILL stream
in HD. but some things (like, sadly, all 9 seasons of coach) are given to netflix in awful quality, and there's no improving it.

I tend to go through spells where I'll watch a lot of movies, followed by long spells where I don't watch any. Since I don't consistently watch a lot of them, I've never signed up for a Netflix account. For a while I was ordering movies via On Demand instead of renting DVDs but there hasn't been much that I've been interested in lately, and with the average price of an On Demand movie at about $6, it's sometimes more economical to buy the DVD or Blu-ray if I think it's something I'm going to want to watch again. A lot of older DVD titles are available at almost giveaway prices at Amazon. I'll buy a bunch of titles when they're running one of their specials so I'll have them on hand to watch when I'm in the mood.

On Netflix, I mostly watch documentaries. Most recently I watched "The Natural History of the Chicken" and "Solitary Confinement".

Just watched "TRIAGE" on Netflix, starring Colin Farrell.
Storyline:
Colin Farrell stars in this psychological drama about a photojournalist who returns home from a harrowing news assignment without the colleague who'd accompanied him. Now, his girlfriend (Paz Vega) will not rest until she finds out what took place. Bosnian helmer Danis Tanovic, whose No Man's Land won the 2002 Academy Award for Best Foreign-Language Film, directed this taut, dark drama shot on location in Ireland.
Cast:Colin Farrell, Christopher Lee, Kelly Reilly, Paz Vega, Reece Ritchie, Juliet Stevenson, Jamie Sives, Nick Dunning, Branko Djuric, Myia Elliott

A Noodle Note: If you are watching the movie via your pc or mac, and using headphones, BEWARE of the War Scenes.
The sudden explosions can easily blow your eardrums into next Tuesday.

I've been using Netflix streaming for years, through multiple browsers, and I can't recall ever getting pop-ups or pop-unders.

Are we on the same "Internets"?

Has anyone seen "Restrepo" yet.?
-
I saw Restrepo a few weeks ago. Pretty powerful and emotional look at life as a combatant. Also a compelling appeal to get the job done and COME HOME.

Gee, maybe Netflix is so smart they know who to target! :o I get the pop up ads all the time :Xo! I must know which sites are selling their souls to Netflix to make a buck ('cause I ain't spending it! :*)) )

Maybe try installing the Ad Block extension if you're on Firefox or Chrome.

Not when you stream. When you are are on other web sites. Netfix is the worst culprit of pop-overs and unders on the whole internet.
