Hello fellow baldies, I thought I would stop in and post a proper introduction. #!@!
I am much like many of you, but I have been wearing an uncomfortable rug for more than 10 years! And I have paid thousands of dollars for the "pleasure" of wearing it all this time. :/O I started going bald at age 20 and had a rug by age 23. Now I am 33 years old and finally ready to embrace my baldness and show off my beautiful dome that is hidden beneath. O:O
It has all been pretty sudden for me. I was sitting on my couch about a month ago, having never really thought all too seriously about removing the dead animal on my scalp, when the idea popped into my head (it somehow made its way through the rug). I think I googled "removing a hair piece" and found my way here. Everything changed! Picking my way through SBG for just a couple days was all I needed.
Now I know it is the best option for me and thanks to all the cool sly dudes on this site, I have realized that being sly will be a fun and unique way for me to go through my life. I'm excited! :D This forum has also given me all the information I need regarding products and techniques to properly shave off what little hair I have and expose the slyness beneath. Thanks!
I have told my family and several close friends about my plan and they are all very supportive and excited to see my chrome dome. Every single one! I am excited to move on with my life. Although I have had that sly itch for about a month, I am going to wait one more month to unleash the slydom so it coincides with a long weekend trip to Florida for a friend's bachelor party. Hanging out with some good guys and getting some sun on the fresh dome seems like a good way to start (end?) this journey.
Once I am sly, maybe at the end of my 30 days, I plan to post my whole story in the beginners’ section. But for now I will be cruising the forum, jealous of all the great bald heads here. Thanks again. :)

Hello
I am in my 11th day of being sly after wearing a rug for 21 years. I am feeling better all the time. I waited for a work trip interstate then I am going home this Friday and then going on holiday for a week with friends.
The slow steady approach has suited me because I feel more confident about the look and getting use to it myself around strangers, and less self consious about seeing the rest of my friends and work colleuges for the first time when I get home.
Stay in touch and we can share stories.

Sounds like a solid plan.
Take a look around, there are bald heads everywhere these days.

Welcome!
I wonder where all those rugs go once they're ditched. Perhaps we should install a rug tomb somewhere on SBG? :D

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

Papa Don, thanks for the attitude compliment. I am trying to have a good attitude about this; I believe it will help. The truth is, this site has helped me develop a positive attitude about going sly that wasn't there 2 months ago. It's an important thing in all of life, including the way of the sly. I think that I have gotten really positive reactions to my plan to go shave it all in a month because people see that I am positive and excited and they respond back the same way.
I would be willing to bet that a lot of guys out there who have gotten negative reactions to being sly are their own worst enemies. They more than likely have an unsure or negative attitude about it and others will pick up on that and feed it right back to them. It's an unfortunate reality of basic human nature and one I will do my best to avoid.
I still have hair and a hairpiece (soon to be gone), but I am already starting to feel a little sly. I know that you guys will help me through the transition.
Mick R, congrats on ditching the hairpiece. It's a difficult thing and you deserve a lot of credit! O0

Congrats on your decision.
It surely takes more cojones than I had to go from a rug to sly. I never had to make that decision. My hair turned white, and then thinned a bit in my forties, so I was like the frog in the pot, gradually warmed. When the thought came to "shave it off," it was no struggle, since what was there was nothing special--neither horseshoe nor lush crop. BBC was just another place to be.
Had I gone seriously bald forty years ago, not sure what my attitude would have been, but since I am rather a cheapskate, and in a profession where one's looks are irrelevant, I'd probably have said, when faced with the "solutions" to MPB, "To hell with those." So, I've been sly now for twenty-five years (on and off).

Welcome to SBG Breeze ...
You're making a wise decision to ditch the fur hat and shave it clean. Once you've done it, you'll wish you'd thought of this years earlier.

Congratulations on your decision and your very positive outlook. As someone who was in your exact shoes six months ago, I can tell you that you are going to love it!!!

Hey guys, I did it!
Everything went really well and I am enjoying the sly life. I am really happy with how the noggin looks and things will only get better as time goes on. I've had no irritation or nicks and the shadow is barely visible. I've had positive reactions (and non-reactions) across the board. Mostly though, I am happy to be free of the rug and not have to worry about my hair all the time. Life is good!
I grew a beard out before the big shave and have left the 70s porn star 'stache to start my sly life. I've never worn any kind of facial hair before, so reactions are mixed on that, but I am having fun with it for now.
I'm going to go through my 30 days and then post up my story. Thanks again! O0
