Title: New from Ohio.
Post by: mark on November 08, 2010, 02:24:50 PM
I am bald because of genetics.......................because i chose to be...................or was it genetics?

I always knew i would lose my hair. I just wanted it to be on my terms and not have the "monk" look. So i just started to shave my head when i was about 28/29 years old, before any balding started.  I am now 33.

I use the regular 4 blade cartridge's to shave my head and face.  But lately Ive been getting a hankering to learn to use a straight razor and use that.  I feel that in the long term ill save money. I can get maybe5 to 7 shaves out of a cartridge razor. Then i have to toss it in the trash and use a new one.  I guess i have a very stiff beard or a sensitive face.

Head blade? I wish i could get my hands on one for free to try it. I just DO NOT like the idea of pushing a blade across my head. It just seems like a bad idea!

Anyways, im hear to see if i can pick up anything new or to bestow my own knowledge on the crowd.

Thanks!

Welcome Mark! Your doing better than me with the cartridges I only get 2-3 shaves, so one cartridge lasts around 1 week!!!! I suspect using a straight razor would be cheaper but much more time consuming!

Welcome Mark.  Glad to have you join our group of brothers.  Yes, a straight razor would be nice and in the long term cost efficient.  However, not being graced with coordination, I would probably come out one eared.  Kind of scary!!!

Welcome.  You're a great standard bearer for the concept of hiding the mpb process in plain sight!  Your straight razor idea is interesting, but I don't even know if anyone out there can show a guy how to do it short of barber school.

Welcome to the site buddy, enjoy your stay! O0

I've never had a straight razor shave, I'm usually one to try something before judging it, but I'd have to build some trust with the person holding the blade before letting hin start.

I just got a Headblade a few days ago, trust me it's good! One thing that's cool is that a lot of different replacement blades work for it (you get two different blade adapters).  The Headblade replacement blades are fairly priced so you'll asve money over time on blades.
