Title: True or false: SLY with an electric razor?!
Post by: daniel-imba on October 25, 2010, 08:58:31 AM
Guuuys, i have a feeling thta i really missed some point.
60% posts on that forum is all about^
- how\with what lube\creme to shave head
- and the other topiics are about "tell me about your shaving routine".

And since im going to go total SLY (i hope in the end of that week already (ohhh lord! :) ), im continue to browse that forum pages after pages.

But yeserday i found (here: http://www.slybaldguys.com/smf/index.php?topic=11708.0 ) a link on a youtube. And in the movie, some guy (i guess is advertising his services), shaved sly with a use of only:

-  hot shower
-  Panasonic 13,000k linear Shaver
-  and a shaving oil

PS: In the end he also use razorshaver for a 2-3 "hard" point on the head, but still main routine was acomplished on Panas.
-----------------------------------------

And now im tottaly frustrated, since a bunch of little tiny questions attacked my braincells.

"If its possible (and so easy) just shave with an electric shaver, why you all guys dance with 5 types of creames and 3 types of moistures.... and still sometimes get an skin irritation?"

My nain suggestion is that...mm.. is that guy state a lie or something about how easy\sly it is?
Or there is some underwater rocks in a shaving your head with an electric razor? What aere they?

In otherwise, if there is no "rocks", no minuses, no irritation and the electric shabing is so awesome...mmm... i wonder why all SBG members is not squeese their Brauns\Panasonics in their hands.

Btw, its not a theoretical question really. Because im thinking to buy "same as int he video" electric shaver and try to use it on my 30-days-run ......

I never tried an electric shaver on my dome, but I wouldn't...I can only imagine the extra effort it would take to get the job done(if it even comes close) to what my Fusion and HeadBlade can do in a few minutes...

I tried an electric, a Braun.  It got the job done nicely after about 20 minutes!  ::)  My head was raw from all the rubbing though.  :-\

I don't think an electric razor can get close enough.  I like the totally slick feeling that only a manual razor can provide.

I have experienced with electric. My kit is perfect, it's a Panasonic wet/dry, but I prefer the traditional way. Why? I feel it takes much longer with electronic, almost as if my hair is thicker quality than my facial hair, which I doubt... My Panasonic still gets the job done and its as smooth as with say mach 3.

Dan, yeah there is personal choice.  But...the bottom line, you will ALMOST never get as close of a shave with an electric.  @c3

Yeah, the Panasonic is close; but no cigar!  If you want to experience true slyness do the blade.   8)

I have a Panasonic and thin hair and on a morning when I'm half asleep, I will use the Panasonic from a safety standpoint (half asleep, in the dark, etc.).  But by mid day, I'd even say after just a few hours, I will feel the little nubs starting to come out.  Had I used a blade, the smooth head feeling would have lasted longer through the day.    ;)

So, if you're wondering why all the hoopla about shaving creams and blades and lotions and potions, it's primarily to make that smoothness last as long as possible.

Now if you go with an electric to start with, people will see sly.  Most don't know the difference nor do they care.  They will see a bald head.  So, it's up to you!  O0

I hope this helps you.
