Post by: tomgallagher on October 12, 2010, 02:34:14 PM
I recently tried IE9 Beta and after a couple of weeks decided that I didn't like it and wanted to go back to IE8. Unfortunatly I can't seem to go back. Anybody have any suggestions.?

Tom.....I would still suggest staying with Firefox. That and a decent anti-virus ( I use AVG free) have kept me bug free for a while now. Used to have fits with IE....never going back.

IE has one use on my Windows laptop - downloading Windows updates.

For everything else, there's Firefox and Chrome.

I tried Safari awhile back (a year or so...maybe 2 - on a windows based system) and was under-impressed with its performance vs. Chrome and Firefox. That may have changed since..  I never really went back to it after my first dalliance with it.

I really like Google Chrome and I have been using it for probably four months. I really like that you can sync your bookmarks to your gmail address! I am also very excited about Google's OS! I am not sure when it is going to come out but I am sure its going to be great!

Not to be too negative, but I read some reviews from when the Chrome OS was released for limited testing, and the reviewers were basically saying it was like a stripped-down Ubuntu Linux, with fewer features. I do know that the OS is based on the Linux kernel, and will be in essence "Google Linux."

I hear that Mozilla is really struggling with Firefox 4.0, they are already behind schedule.

I sat next to some Moz developers at lunch the other day (the beauty of living in Silicon Valley) and I overheard the saying the same thing.

I couldn't find the 4.0 version on line today when Tyler was walking me through a problem - it was removed from the site.
