Title: Mustaches
Post by: marshd1000 on October 11, 2010, 12:43:59 AM
So how many of you Sly guys just sport a mustache.  Most of time I have been Sly, I have either sported a Van Dyke (mustache and goatee) or a full beard.  Anyway, I got bored and shaved off the chin whiskers and am sporting a pretty bushy mustache.  I will probably go back to some kind of chin whiskers at some point.  But this is the thickest mustache I have ever grown.  I am actually liking this.  I know that Noodles sports just a mustache  and a very nice one I might add.  But how many more just sport the 'stache?

Looks good, marsh. I've sported just a mustache in the past -- but I think it's been quite some time.

Yep.

Outrageously luxuriant handlebar/English moustache.

Currently held in place with Firehouse "Wacky Tacky".

Long ago, that's what I sported 36 years ago when I got married between two full beards.  Then came the long naked face era.  Marsh that's a fine looking specimen O0, walrus' rock.

During a couple of my clean-shaven phases, while I was in the process of shaving everything off, I left my mustache until last just to see how it looked with a bald head.  It's not a look that worked for me at all.

I've sported a mustache since I first was able to grow one.  However, if I had the ability I  would have a full long beard.  I have tried numerous times but ultimately give up.  Just not thick and full enough to pull it off.  I'm trying to grow a goat at the present time.  About a weeks worth of growth and it does seem a little thicker than in the past.  Wish me luck and patience.

Done, please remember you can go sly in 20-30 minutes, it's three months to see what a beard is going to be.  It takes that long to get some idea of the density of dormant hairs coming on line to add to the growing hair and the ones at "terminal" length.  A mature beard, IMO, doesn't show its real potential until at least 6 months.

I had more failed attempts than I care to remember because I was too impatient.   But good things come to those who wait.  I would imagine that you should be able to get some good coverage on your chin, given your thick mustache (which is the slowest-growing part of the beard for most people).

I sported a mustache for about 30 years before going sly, at which time I grew my first goat which has prevailed ...

My mustache is a modified handlebar.

I wore a mustache from the time I could grow one until this very day....although now it is part of my goat. I've had beards, closely cropped, off and on for years.

I only shaved the mustache a few times over the years.... usually for Halloween costumes.

I'm 53 now. Been sporting the ol' 'stache since I was in my early 20's.

Fireman and hairy lips just go together like bacon and eggs. It's a law.

Actually, the 'stache came with the nose and glasses as a boxed set. (LOL)

I've always thought a slick head and 'stache was a good look. I've tried it, but didn't think i could pull it off so I always went back to a goatee.

You look great with a "slick melon" and a "stache"

It's either full goatee for me or clean shaven...

I'm with Arnie on this, clean shaven or goatee. i am rarely clean shaven. For the most part for the past 10 years I had a goatee. If i would shave it off, it wouldn't be for long.

Thanks Mango for the feedfack. It just doesn't grow in nice and thick. What Noodles and Marsh have are great 'staches. My vote is for Marsh to keep his.

I had to back in history here.  But I grew my first stash in the early 70's and have had many over the years , along with beards.  I have one at this time and plan on keeping it.  I love it in the cold weather.  If you are out in the winter and your old snot box is running  ;) it has some where to go.  Plus shaving on the upper lip in the winter it seems that it becomes alot more raw.  I have a round face and with the gray beard it looks bigger, fatter etc..

I use CLUBMAN Moustache wax when needed in Neutral color for light and gray colored stache's.  Also if you have allergies , or a cold and are contastanly blowing the nose you don't get cold sores .

I do believe that is why the old cowboys wore the Mustache.

The old stash has been around for many years. I am sure that those members of all ages. Many different meanings of the stash , as if I care.  I explained mine and the Old Saying "Different People Different Strokes "  Plus you see more Goat's which is fine I have had many over the years, but my OBSD doesn't help LOL ,  I try and keep it simple.  It all depends on what you can grow, wanna grow, and what looks good on the ole face .   ;)  Iffen ya want to do it , then do it , don't set like a idiot and wonder what it would look like LMAO !   ;) O:O  And the others they aren't special only YOU !!!!   You can take that to the bank.   O:O  Just sayen the truth !

I'll be growing a beard for "No Shave November", so I'm in. We're having a sort of contest at work to see who makes it, or who shaves first.

I finally decided to let my 'stache grow back in. I 've got a two day growth now. Mainly out of curiosity to see how it looks (grey 'stache with black eyebrows and a shiny dome).

Thar ya go bro., and while you are doing that I have let the ole beard grow 3 days , had to trim the neck abit.  But when it gets cold out , I am sure you will like the stashe and eyebows suck I shaved mine down like the stubble on the beard .  They can call me old Grey ,  ;) that there would be one of the nicer names I have been called  ;D but it is all good.  Gotta have a parley in life.  Show some pic's.

Have a Great Day.
