A local provider came today and is providing the 2010-11 Flu vaccine in our building's lobby. I usually get the vaccine, so offered up my arm this morning.
What's your take on the vaccine?
I've never gotten sick from the vaccine or gotten the flu since I pretty much get it every year. Before I started getting the shot every year I had gotten the flu a couple of times and really hated being laid low for a week or more.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but there's something about mass inoculations that I don't trust. :P
-
I will probably get it.
Also, I heard that this year's vaccine has an H1N1 vaccine in it as well. Has anyone else heard that?
-
I'll be getting the Flu vaccince as well. I have heard that the H1N1 is in the shot.

That's what is says on WebMD, and at least one other variety is also included that's already shown up.
-
I'll get it as in the last couple of years.
-
Got the shot last year with all the H1N1 publicity. Will probably wait for the medical experts to advise.
-
Will get it without hesitation....I see a minimum of 25 patients per day to 80 patients per day----without doubt, I will get the vaccine. Always get the flu vaccine and have never gotten the flu while being around, at the minimum, 500 people who have the active flu per year. I beleive in it and MAKE my parents take it, also. Just my thoughts and beliefs....you can feel differently and it will not bother me---in the least bit! O0

I think it's the mercury that's included in the vaccine that I don't trust.

I had the flu shot last weekend. Bit of a sore arm, but worth it not to get the flu. I get the flu shot every year.

ive gotten the flu like once or twice, but I never get the shot. Just never really need to
-
I usually don't get one....rarely get sick. Did get the child's version for my daughter though...the one they spray up each nostril....boy she loved that!! :'( She caught something nasty a bit over a year ago that had her in the hospital for 2 days with a elevated heartrate and very bad fever so not taking any chances. Took a few years off my life worrying about her. :-\

Yes, I get it every year. It's sort of like a condom, better to have one and not need it than to need one and not have it.
-
Got it today

Probably will the next time I'm at Walgreens.

I've been in health care for 20 years. I've always refused the flu shot, which is usually free for health care workers. I've had the flu ONE time my entire adult life and it was 2 days AFTER I had the flu shot about 10 years ago. 103 temp, chills, intestinal disruptions, the whole kit and kaboodle! Employee health nurse assured me after a week of being out of work that there was no way I could get the flu from the shot. Whatever lady! Not believing it!
Lesson learned!! Never again.

The one time I had one ... sick as a dog all winter
-
They dont issue them as a matterof course over here - only to high risk goups.

Nope..no flu shot..everyone gets sick from them..I'll take my chances!

Same here. The shots are offered for free at work. I always decline and get a lot of flack from everyone else in the office. Then they all end up with the flu and I don't.
-
i say if either way you get sick i'll keep my ten bucks and just get sick.
-
Like GAslick, I've only gotten the flu 2 times, both times a few days after getting the flu shot. I rarely get the flu or a cold, but I'm finding that I do have allergies now.

Sorry but this statment is not factual. Many people who should get the shot don't because they believe it is true. My wife and I have both had the inoculations many time over the years and never got the flu. The exception being when not taking the shot. But I must admit, still having some fears with all these different shots and medicines.I believe a lot of it is a money making scam. That is the dilemma of living in this" day and age".
-
Got it this week. No problems.
-
If you, or your loved one is in a high risk group, then you should get one.
I'm not sure what the total definition of high risk is, but I think that age is a factor. So, if you're getting solicitations from AARP to join, you might be part of that high risk group :o :*)) :*))
Another factor of the high risk group is an immune deficiency. If you have this situation, or if your significant other has it, then you should get a shot to help protect them. 8)
I got it a couple of days ago...at the same time that I got a pneumonia shot in the other arm. :/O
The flu shot was not a problem. On the ohter hand (arm), the pneumonia shot still hurts. :Xo!
My wife told me to rub it so the hurt would go away WRONG ANSWER!! :/O
Instead, a warm wet washcloth on your arm works much better at reducing the pain. O0

I think I voted no but... the other day at work they were giving them free and the next thing I knew I had a Band Aid on my arm! :o
-
I always pass and am able to get a flu shot for free at work (my client actually offers them to contractors too).
