Title: Bald Halloween Costumes for 2010
Post by: Tyler on September 12, 2010, 08:36:29 PM
Well, we're merely weeks away from Halloween and it's time to start thinking about your costumes.  Anyone have any idea what they are wearing this year?  Or do you have a good idea for a costume that you want to share with the guys?

The hostess of the party we are going to always has a "theme"   This year its movies.   Though I would combine the sly look with my bike, so I am going as Ghost Rider.    Doing the dome up in white stage makeup and black all around the eyes and cheeks for the skeletal look.

Last year I was a blue man group and won. We have a huge competition every year at work. This year I am being relatively secret around locals because I thought about being Shrek but it leaked out and a coworker called dibs. Now Im thinking Mr. Clean, bought a muscle shirt and the rest of it already, thinking about piercing my ear anyway so it should work out. Other ideas would be Elmer Fudd, could paint the dome to look like a soccer or something. One of our members Rob here was a smiley face last year. Lots of good Sly ideas.

Blue Man Group would be a good choice. Besides, I like their music.

I went last year as a Sugar Skull. I paint my whole head up like the Dia De Los Muertos candy and wear a black turtleneck & black jeans. People are usually surprised when i do it and say they'd never thought of that before. pretty cool

Title: Halloween Week Road Trip
Post by: Noodles on September 21, 2010, 05:14:30 PM
                        Halloween Week Road Trip!

By now, I'm sure most have heard of this electrician and his wife who, when building a new house in Waxahachie, Texas, built a replica of The Munster Mansion.

I took the kids there one year. All I can say is that it is INCREDIBLE-Both INSIDE and OUT!

Amazing that the BLUEPRINTS for the house were drawn up strictly by viewing the episodes from the original series over and over again!

I think it's closed for visitation for Halloween 2010, but it sure was a sweet treat when we visited here.

I think I enjoyed it more than the kids! (https://www.slybaldguys.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi167.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu158%2Fjoglynne%2Fsmillies%2Fsmiley_ghost.gif&hash=d432e9d75af9915ca32f350fcb5d048d18991e3e)

It's easier than it looks! I slip on a pair of rubber gloves and coat my whole face and head with simple white Halloween make up(comes in tubes for about $2). I wait about 5 minutes for it to dry and go to work with a small brush and a tube of black paint to do the teeth/nose/eye sockets. Then you can go crazy with other colors for decoration. For facial hair, I just mixed some red and orange paint with water to thin it down and combed that mixture into the hair. The whole thing took less than an hour and that was doing it all myself. When I've done similar stuff for friends it takes about 30 minutes.

A quick, hot shower with body wash takes it all off no muss, no fuss.

The King of Siam - that's a great idea!  I probably couldn't pull that off myself ... I'm a bit too hairy for that role!  But that's an awesome idea!

The Halloween plan so far is pretty good. We are having the costume contest at work on Saturday so Im gonna be Mr. Clean, have the earring, pants, shoes, white paint for my eyebrows and all that ready to go. After work we are going to the haunted corn maze which we always dress up for that. The Mr Clean get up will be too cold to wear so we planned it all out- secret service. I have 2 Sly cousins and 1 haired (will be smooth soon) so 4 bald guys and 2 of their wives will be going. The wives will be all Hollywood-ed up like celebrities/royalty and we will be their gaurds/secret service. We all have the suits and all that already, ordered the earpiece things on ebay, now just need matching shades. On Halloween we are gonna dress up again and go to a haunted house way out in the middle of nowhere. We are also planning a 'dry run' on the Friday before, going out to dinner and the mall just to try it out and see responses

I don't know why, but I am going to paint my head bright orange with bright yellow eyes, nose, lips, ears.  Then a t-shirt that I glued fake autumn leaves and jeans I sewed plastic green vines.  Go figure --- its Halloween !    :px

As soon as I get into costume Ill post some pics. The costume contest at work has been upgraded. Before the prizes were just some random things and alittle cash. Now its $50 for 1st place, $25 for 2nd, and $10 for 3rd plus baskets full of stuff for the various placings. Its customer choice and I have lots of loyal customers. For my non-work costume of secret service/body gaurd I did a dry run and went walking through a couple stores and got random items, one of the employees at the grocery store seemed very intimidated, I liked it.

I have to say it took me a while to finally decide what I was going to be this year. I was thinking John McClane in Live Free or Die Hard (cuz he Bruce Willis was not bald in the others) Dr. Evil, Mr. Clean, Vin Diesel in either Fast and the Furious or Chronicles of Riddick/Pitch Black, and a bald Jedi. But I finally decided on Agent 47 from Hitman.
Last year I went as Turk from Scrubs, I even went black for it haha. We had a group of people doing different people from Scrubs.

My Mr. Clean costume got me 3rd place at work, only a few people knew what I was, other people thought I was just an old muscle builder guy or something.
The secret service/body gaurd costume last night was awesome. Me and my cousin got dressed up in suits and had the shades and all, went to the corn maze and got asked tons of questions. The people at the ticket booth asked why we were in suits, we said it was confidential and we were just doing our job. At taco bell after the maze was awesome, people cleared out around us, lots of stares. Tonight we are going trick or treating (yes I know, a bunch of people in their 20s shouldnt be trick or treating but its your inside age that counts) and we are all going to be dressed up again, after that we're going to a haunted house, its gonna be a blast.
