Title: NFL Talk
Post by: texanron on September 12, 2010, 07:26:50 PM
Who is your favorite NFL team and why?

It was nice to see my home town Houston Texans take it to the Colts today for only the 2nd time in franchise history (2-15). Since the road to winning the division runs through Indy it was a great way to start the season. I'm sure the Colts will be looking for some payback when the two teams meet up again later this year on MNF.

Raiders.
I was born in Oakland. Our family had season tix before they moved to LA. I considered getting season tix again once they returned in 1995, but passed. I still go to a game or two a year, despite their current downturn. Now that they ended the JaMarcus Russell experiment (or as I called him "The Round Mound of Fourth Down"), I see better times ahead (week 1 notwithstanding).

Come to the Dark Side.....Raider Nation.

I'm a vikings fan, livin only a few hours from minneapolis. Was kinda bummed that we cant have an undefeted season.. but eh, one game doesn't reflect the whole season. NO might be the defending champs, but vikings are the soon-to-be champs. O0

Da Bears.  Took down an easy win in week 1  ;) that's all I have to say.  Although we have about 2 years left and half our team will be in retirement

Hey SEAN 25 are you kidding me that the bears took down an easy win? The lions beat them save for a ridiculous call on obvious t.d..  By the way the lions did it without their no.1 qb.  The bears look to be an average team at best and that is being generous. So the bears should enjoy this''EASY'' win.

Bears fan since childhood in the Wrigley Field/Abe Gibron days. According to everything I've seen/read the rule was applied correctly on the Calvin Johnson "un-catch", but God, what a crap rule. It sure looked like a catch to me.
IMO, it made it a cheap win and I'd almost rather see an honest and hard fought loss. It does NOT bode well for the remainder of the season. This type of win does not bring respect.
Cheap.

It appears we have our first QB controversy of the year brewing in Philadelphia. Thats a shame to me since I was really pulling for the kid from UH to do good things this year.

Tough break for the GB Packers with the Ryan Grant injury. The load on Aaron Rodgers shoulders just got a bit heavier.

The Texans will try to do this coming Sunday what the other team from Texas couldn't do this past Sunday.

What are we to make out of the Chiefs win on Monday night? Maybe they do have 10 wins and a division title in them this year.

Well I think we know which side Schro comes out on this topic. I can't wait to see what he has to say in the week leading up to a Raiders/Chiefs match up.

Actually, I hear that KC makes more of a deal regarding an OAK / KC game than the Raider Nation does. Apparently, they call it "Raider Hater" week .... ain't that cute?

I did watch the SD / KC game Monday and was impressed with KC's defense and special teams.
I was actually hoping for a tie and to see Rivers, Sproles, Charles, Cassel, and Dorsey all break their legs.

I think right about now would be a good time for the Vikings and their fans to start worrying. The Silver Fox probably should've made it in to training camp.

I wonder who is going to get fired in Dallas after their 0-3 start to the season....

Brett Favre and his three gaffes at the goal line knocked me out of the suicide pool in week 2!!!! $100 bye bye.
Now, I am aligned with BaldRob on another topic.....

As much as I hate to say it the Cowpokes saved their season against my hometown Texans! I knew the Texans weren't going to go 16-0 but did they really have to lose to the Cowboys....oh well. The sun came up today.

Schro, how are you doing today? Your boys took another tough loss and the Chiefs continue to roll. One of us is going to have a better Monday next week at least.

Vikings fans can breathe a little better today. Saints fans will say its allright only one loss....but is it really allright??? The Falcons look like they could make the division race interesting this year.

Pittsburgh looks pretty stout. Can't wait for them and the Ravens to get it on!

I'm looking forward to the match up tonight! Bears and Packers on MNF!!

Well being from the Seattle area, I have to say the Seahawks. They haven't been doing well since Shaun(?) Alexander got hit with the Madden curse.

I went down to California to stay with a friend from the 3rd-10th, and he surprised me by bringing me to the Raiders vs. Chiefs game. Wow for my first football game, it was amazing!  I mean tying the game in the last 10 seconds and than winning in overtime, now that's a game to see. After seeing how crazy the Raider fans are, and seeing how intense the 'Black Hole' is, I have to say I have a tie for my favorite team.

The Seahawks seem to be doing alright this season, they've lost a few games really bad (what was that one game 2 or 3 weeks ago 41-7?). The Seahawks are good at rebounding though, I just wish they would be more consistent lol.

I have to thank Michael Vick for his 8,000 yards against Washington which made them , rather than my Houston Texans, the worst defense in the NFL.

The Eagles vs Giants game was both a great comeback by the Eagles and a huge choke job by the Giants. If it wasn't for Tom Brady Mike Vick would probably win the MVP.

Vick is incredible, maybe the best player in the game right now,[sorry tom brady]. If he isn't the best then he is easily the most fun to watch. He can run like a deer and has a cannon for an arm.Would not want to play them in the playoffs.

Bears looked good last night...they should visit totally frozen college fields more often...

It was fun to watch...even the Vikings rookie quarterback was fun to watch(as long as the Bears were ahead)...

So is Favre done?

I would say that a normal person would be done but I think Favre is part Martian so you never know. That field last night looked like concrete.

Before the Pats game I had the Bears winning the NFC. Idk now. Who wants to see a repeat of Super Bowl XIX except with the roles reversed this time? I believe that the only way to beat the Pats (who finally looked vulnerable last week - and to a JV qb at that) is to put 35+ on them. I think only NO can do that. Anyway, I agree. Go Bears!

I live in downstate Illinois, middle of Bear Country (and Cubs too, but that's another story,  -  - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -  - - - - But - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I think the Bears missed their chance to eliminate the Packers in the last game of the season, when, IMO, they slacked off, and let the Green Bay Packers get into the post season.  Big mistake.  The time to get rid of them was then.  It will be a lot more difficult to do it now.  So, if I can be so bold as to make a prediction,  My bet would be, in the Super Bowl - - - - - - - -            Green Bay Packers and the New York Jets,

Every one of my predictions has been wrong so far, but I'm gonna say Jets- Packers with the Jets winning. After that performance in NE I think the Jets are the best around. I mean they put a beat down on the team everybody had winning it all.

And b/c I just said that it'll be a Bears-Steelers SB.

I can't wait for the Bears vs Packers game myself! The two teams that have played each other more then any two other teams should deliver a classic!

I'll go with Packers beating the Bears.....although I hope and I'll be rooting the other way. Steelers over the Jets.
