Afternoon guys! Thought I would drop by and share what happened to me last weekend.
My wife and I popped out to our local pizzeria for a meal and a beer (or four!) after a tough day and i automatically recognised the waiter as an old school mate of mine from about 15 years ago who i haven't seen since. He approached my table and sure enough he too recognised me and the first words he said was "what the bloody hell happened to you? Have you had a tough life since school?" whilst pointing to my head. I replied that my life has been pretty good thank you very much and introduced him to my glowing pregnant wife.
After a good couple of minutes chatting to him, i noticed he couldn't keep his eyes off the top of my head. As i paid my bill he patted my head and said "you'll have to start taking it easy and maybe it will grow back".
I just found it amazing that something that i actually care so little about practically dominated a whole conversation with someone i haven't seen for 15 years ago. Thought it would be good to share.
Hope you guys are keeping well!
Anthony (Slick)

It's probably due to his own insecurities. After seeing you, he tried to reassure himself by saying, "At least I still have my hair", as if that were some sort of an accomplishment on his part. :/O
-
I think he was just shocked. He still had your image as a teenager in his head, and suddenly you're there with a bald noggin! :o
Maybe you should meet him again in a more relaxed situation.

Ive had simlilar reactions from people who saw me alot more recently with a head of hair. I find it best to do as a fellow sly friend of mine advised me.. laugh it off. Its rarely meant as an insult and more often a reaction from shock.

Some people you just have to ignore. Not every one is going to like the sly look, but this guy had no couth. In fact he is a clod. .......Sorry if he is your friend, but he is what he is. :x!

Some people just have no clue.
-
Some folks don't seem to take the time to think before they speak.

Whoa, whatever happened to the attitude that the customer is "always right?" I hope he does a better job at serving than he does at customer relations. I could see his boss/supervisor advising him that his services with or without hair aren't required in the shop. Aren't you Brits the ones that pride their serving personnel as "barely noticeable?"
-
If anything he's jealous of your wife and soon-to-be child. An it makes him feel better that he has hair, which you know by now means pretty much nothing, but to himself.

I´ve been sly and shaved for almost 2 weeks now and still at this stage, but this guy sounds like a complete arsehole.
I know a similar person to the Waiter, tries to bring People down. Was he cool at School?, but now we are all 28 and moving on to new things and he´s stuck in his mundane boring life, he´s trying to re-live his Youth.
My Friend who just started working as a Bartender, met this ´Friend´from School in his Pub a few weeks back. My Pal has recently lost 50 pounds in weight and the first thing he says "Hey Buddy, You´ve put on the beef haven´t you?" and my friend just laughed it off.
But, it´s the other way around - the cool at school, sporty type has put on weight by not playing Soccer and drinking too many Pints, and the Barman who plays Squash, Soccer, Golf and jogs regular that has.
There must be a term for it in the Psychological field, but they see People looking better than they feel so feel the need to bring them down.
I bet the first thing your Wife said to you was when you go out the Pub and into the Car or the walk home was "Who was that arsehole?"
I´m recently shaved as well, and every comment has been super positive, bar one ´´It makes you ears stick out´´ and it was from the same guy.
One of my friends is going very Gray, his side areas are Gray but has copper-red hair and he gets a few comments "The Silver Fox" etc, but it´s mostly from People he´s known since School. We were at a Wedding on Sat Night and when speaking to him it was mostly folk who we grew up with who were teasing him or joking with him about it, yet the new People who we´ve never met or met a few times recently were more "It adds a bit of character, and it looks good" comments.

Oh man.....those are the types of guys that spend the rest of their lives trying to relive old memories.........all the while missing out on making great new ones.
News Flash......High School was only 4 small years of many!!!!!!!!!!!! No one cares about it anymore!!!!! ::)
-
All you guys are right. Funny enough he was alright at school and we got on really well.
I actually felt quite proud of myself as i felt that i was unique and that he still had the same ginger hair style he had at school. I did mention to him that people do change in time and change is cool and how boring it would be if we still looked the same as we did all those years ago!
-
Also bear in mind that he's waiting tables in a pizzeria and might not be very happy about it -- and therefore looking for anything that might make him feel better off than someone else.

You're right Razor! Cool Goatee by the way mate. I am tinkering with the idea but just trying to pluck up the courage to have one.

I am a nice, mannerly, loyal, understanding guy....but......the moment he mentioned "hard life", I would have said, "not half as hard as the night you will have bringing me beers on my every whim"....some people should really be checked before they are let loose in public. Sorry--that kinda crap hits a nerve with me!! :Xo!

Nice!

"...As i paid my bill he patted my head and said "you'll have to start taking it easy and maybe it will grow back".
Anthony-
You should have immediately patted him right back and said...."Maybe, with any luck, yours will begin to fall out.." (https://www.slybaldguys.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi266.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fii269%2Ftheogrit%2F1sm056pullhair.gif&hash=57a8c5a3a65b5717ea18474155cb5ed79e2e5591)
