Title: Dropping the kids off...
Post by: Tyler on August 23, 2010, 11:14:14 AM
My daughter has now started pre-school and I'm responsible for dropping her off and picking her up since my schedule is more flexible than my wife's.  How many of you have to drop your kids off at school?  Do you have any interesting stories from it?

Don't have kids yet, only 18, so thank god, lol. However I do have to bring my little brothers to school in the morning and pick em up.

When our kids were in pre school, my wife took them since she works there.  They are in 3rd and 2nd grade now and ride the bus.  They LOVE the bus.  On the rare occasions where I do have to drop off or pick them up, it's a nightmare!  Cars line up for 300 yards down the street.  It's like a traffic jam!  Just turn up the radio and sit it out is all you can do.

Memories--best part, too many to relate here, is that they talk about their friends, etc., without seeming to think you have ears.  Some really priceless ones, with two girls, I heard all about the "neat" boys, who's fashion sense was "clueless".  Little girls, bitches in training! ;D  The plus side is that except for that, it's difficult to get much out of them about their social lives at school.

I have dropped my Daughter off at school since she began unless out of town working. I am self employed and my schedule worked better in the mornings. Her mother gets her most afternoons. Around 2nd grade she started  with "You don't have to walk me in this morning". By 4th grade she was like "Turn down the stereo people can hear it". By 6th grade " Just drop me off by the fence, You don't have to drive up to the door". That attitude lasted through 8th grade. She is now in 10th grade, 15 years old. Where did daddy's little girl go? I do well to speak hillbilly, she can already speak German. I have learned that hair, make-up, clothing and shoes are very very very important. Who knew? She is starting to talk a lot about College. I am truly blessed with a wonderful Daughter. As of right now, Grade's are more important to her than Boy's. I know that can change anytime but I also know she has a good head on her shoulder's.

Be careful with that Sly Dome in the school zone with all those hot little MILF's wanting to pat you on the head. :)

I have one bad memory.  We switched day cares for our youngest many year ago, and she was so upset that she grabbed my leg and wouldn't let go, crying her eyes out... gut wrenching.
