Title: Growing Up
Post by: kenny57028 on August 18, 2010, 07:02:01 PM
Growing up..your bestfriend becomes your worst enemy. lollipops turn into cigarettes. the inncocent ones turn into sluts. Homework goes in the trash. Detention becomes suspension. Soda becomes vodka. Undies turn into g-strings. kisses turn into sex. remember when getting high meant swinging on the playground? when protection meant wearing a helmet? when the worst things you could get from the opposite sex were cooties? your worst enemies were your siblings. race issues were about who ran fastest. war was only a card game. the only drug you knew was cough medicine.. the only things that hurt were skinned knees. and goodbyes only meant until tomorrow? ...and to think we all couldnt wait to grow up.

Great post, so true. When you're a kid you cant wait to grow up, the I cant wait till im old enough because i can do whatever I want. Know I'd give anything to go back. Responsibility isnt all I imagined when I was a kid.

It's all a little too negative for me. Try this instead.......

When we were young:

  1) ...our parents helped us out, now they're older and we get to return the help.
  2) ...we had blind faith , now we have Faith in God.
  3) ...we kissed many, but as we matured we came to kiss only the ONE that matters.
  4) ...drinking meant getting drunk, but as an adult a single cold beer can be one of life's great simple pleasures
  5) ...getting high meant rolling a joint, now it means a motorcycle ride early on a cool crisp morning.
  6) ...Love was giggly and passionate, now that we're older Love is tender yet STILL passionate... and we actually understand it.
  7) ...we looked up to our parents, now our children look up to us..... a great honor.
  8) ...the whole world lay before us, and it STILL lay before those of us whose eyes are open wide with the wonder of a child.
  9) ...Christmas was about receiving, but now it is about Giving.
10) ...Easter was about jelly beans and marshmallow bunnys, but now it is about Faith and Life.
11) ...beauty was cosmetic, but now it is about who the person is.
12) ...Dad was the guy that kept you straight, but now he is your Friend.
13) ...we knew that on certain days we received gifts, but now we know that everyday IS a gift.

Remember guys.......... even on our worst days......... the glass is always FULL............

Peace

Kenny, I only agree with you in that as a child, I couldn't wait to become an adult and my own boss.  Now that I am in the golden years Il wish I could go back to the innocent age.  I regret throwing a tantrum because my paarents would not let me do so and so.  Today I thank them that they were so mean to me. lol.  In my opinion, due to their " strick rules", I am the good person I am today.  Not all children followed the mind set that you set out.  I whole heartedly have to agree with Koz.
