I've looked for shave oils at target, walgreens, and a few other places.   Is there a national or regional (northwest) chain that carries oils?   I'd love to try one of them.

Big fan of shaving oil, and I've heard great things about this, but can't find it anywhere (I'm in the U.K.)

Help! There must be somewhere that sells it over here...

Wal-Mart sells Shave Secret, at least here in LA.

I have used Shave Secret and I really like it. I had to use a lot more than the bottle recommends. Instead of the 3-5 drops I use 10-12 drops.

Although it works really well, it works even better with shaving cream applied on top or it. The combo works better than using just the oil alone, or just the cream alone.

In Kentucky too.  Never used it though.

I bought mine while on vacation in SW Florida in March and still have the same bottle. I didn't shave every day though. I haven't seen it at Walmart in Texas but I haven't really looked yet. It's as wonderful as OP says.

I would love to give this stuff a try out as well. Will have to check Walmart here in the Seattle area- however, it is always a zoo everytime I go in!

Wally World up here in MA carries it as well.  Great stuff, but I've found Hot Six Oil to be a bit more cost effective from a unit price standpoint.  Hot Six can be found a Sally Beauty supply (Wal-Mart used to carry it, but no more).

Both work equally well IMHO, but the Shave Secret wins out on scent (love the hint of cloves) :-)

Title: Retail outlets that carry Secret Shave Oil
Post by: Noodles on July 26, 2010, 04:54:01 PM
Just to name a few, I have (at one time or another) seen the "Shave Secret Shaving Oil" product at the following retail outlets:

Wal-Mart, CVS Pharmacy, Rite-Aid, Target, and Winn-Dixie Supermarkets.

While I realize that some retail outlets may vary their product line depending upon their location in the country, if you have a favorite place to shop and they currently do not carry a product you seek, it IS possible to talk to the store manager and make a request for them to start carrying the item. Most are aiming to please and are more than happy to oblige.

O0 Hope this bit of info helps...

- Cap'n Noodles -

PS: The majority of the same retail outlets listed above also carry a brand of shaving oil by King of Shaves, but I think the more popular product of the two is the Shave Secret.

OLIVE OIL beneath a layer of your favorite shave cream/gel works great also, but the marketed shaving oils seem to give "more glide to a razor's slide"...

I used Secret Shave for the first time and must admit it works better for me than King of Shaves.  Picked it up at Wal Mart.  I had never noticed it before, but had never looked, either.  A real good product.

Based on all the recommendations here, I just picked up some last night.
Have yet to use it though.  I'll try it this Saturday along with my Headslick.

I also saw they (Walmart) had the Gillette Custom Plus 3 disp razors, I'll pick some of those up too for the cartridges.

I've been using Shavers Secret for a couple of years now, and love it. Only a couple of bucks for a bottle and it lasts a really long time. I think I only buy 3  bottles in a year. The things that I like most about it, is that it is not messy, and allows you to see your head clearly. Plus it smells great.

There is a secret to using it though. You have to keep it wet to make it really slippery. Here's what works for me. First I run my hand under the water, then rub the water all over my head. Next, I put a large drop of the oil on each of my fingertips, and rub it all over my head. Then, I wet my hand again, and rub water onto the oil. When you put the water on top of the oil, it gets very slippery. I just make a couple of strokes with the razor, then wet my hand, and rub over the area I just shaved and the area I am going to shave next. Kind of creates a little oil slick on your skin. It also works really great when you use a razor like a Shick Quattro or Hydro that has one of those little aloe pads on it. Makes your head super slippery as you are shaving. I've never had any bumps, nicks, or cuts while using it as long as I kept it wet, and it makes the razor easier to rinse off. Closest shave I have been able to get.

I can't find Secret Shave Oil at my local Wal-Mart so I have been using Baby Oil as a base under my Headslick.  I really like this combo.  What I am wondering is how much better or different is Secret Shave Oil from regular Baby Oil?

I use either one, and I don't see much difference.. Shave Secret has a light aroma of cloves that's nice.  It's also easiser to travel with.  I use a lot more baby oil (w/ aloe) though, its only  5-7 drops of the Shave Secret.  Oil & HS--great combo.

Some times it is very hard to spot. It is a very small bottle (about 2 inches tall) of slightly yellowish liquid, on a small piece of cardboard. Sometimes the cards are hanging, while other times they are in a small box display. Some times the bottle is not on the card. Sometimes they dont stock it with the shaving items. There are times when I have had to hunt for it in my local Walmart even though I know they carry it. I have found it in every Walmart that I have ever gone to, and it is hardly ever in the same place or displayed in the same way, so keep looking. And keep an eye out for it if you go to a Walmart in a neighboring town. I'm sure you will find it sooner or later.
