Last night my 18 year old daughter and a friend of hers who was driving an ATV were in an accident. Jess has suffered a fracture to her left knee cap and to her right hand along with numerous scrapes and cuts. She also suffered a tear near her female area that had to be stitched up and is making going to the bathroom very difficult. The guy driving the ATV was severly injured and had to be flown by helicopter to a hospital in North Carolina. He is alive but suffered numerous tears to tendons and ligaments in his legs. He was at fault in the accident as he took her out on a main road where he had no business being with no lights on the ATV. A car pulled out in front of them and he could not get out of the way in time.
I would appreciate your prayers for both of them. Needless to say this shook me and my wife deeply as it very easily could have been much, much worse.

Prayers to both of them and to your family. I also pray again for the driver of the ATV once he heals up and you get a chance to "talk" to him about taking your daughter out on the open road like that! :x!

wishing her a speedy and complete recovery

You have my prayers for the daughter's speedy recovery. I'll also add her to the prayer list at church this Sunday
-
Hope her recovery is going smoothly. She'll have rehab to reconsider doing anything with that guy again--and he'll have an even more intensive rehab to realize how foolish he was and how lucky he is to have the pain of rehab to bring the fact home that just because he's young, he's not immortal. I know you've got to be conflicted about him.

Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes.
Jess is doing well. I cannot express how proud I am of how well she is handling this in spite of the pain. She is 5"5" of nothing but TOUGH.
As for the boy I am going to be having a man to man with him. I am trying to be as level headed about this as I can be as I do know he has never really had a proper male role model in his life. He will not have any problem where I stand on this but I am going to try and temper it with a bit of compassion. I already know on good info he is scared enough as it is. What I want is for him to learn and mature through this. You can tear someone apart or choose to take part in helping someone be a better person. I prefer to look past his mistake and try to help him be a better man.
Biggest thing..I am THANKFUL that they are both alive and we have no funerals to attend. That could have easily been the case.

My prayers for your daughter and her friend.
You could always remind him that if he though the accident was painful -- wait until you get through when him the next time he does something like that with your daughter ;-)
-
Good Karma going your daughters way.
This Dad stuff sure can be hard work at times.
-
H- my prayers are with your daughter and her friend.
It's a tough lesson they learned. It's amazing that many of us made it to adulthood (been there....).
Please keep us posted as they get better! O0
