My current routine is simple shaving in the shower with a mach3 turbo and edge shave gel. I've been doing it daily for over a year, but I still get redness on the back of my head. Also, I have not been using any products after I shave because my head gets oily very fast. Any recommendations on necessary products to protect and keep my dome healthy?

Bald Guyz Moisture Gel is my personal favorite. It has a very soothing cooling effect, it moisturizes, and dries without any greasiness

Welcome to the Forum Brian!
I also like the Bald Guyz Gel but I also use Nivea Extreme Post Shave Balm. Great stuff, readily available, and a little goes a long way.

I can recommend Baxter of California After Shave Balm. It has a light cooling effect and makes my scalp dry, not greasy.
I think you should try a different shaving gel to reduce the irritation in the first place. HeadSlick by HeadBlade is brilliant. I also like Wilkinson Skin Protection Gel - which is almost as slick as HeadSlick - including aloe vera and oil of black pepper, maybe this is also available under the Schick brand.

Brian, welcome to the best bald site on the Internet! Ditto on the Moisture Gel. Great stuff! Nivia has some outstanding products as well! I'm sure you would be happy with Mike's choice as well. O0

Witch Hazel is good especially since you have an oily scalp.

my local stores no longer carry Bald Guyz products so i use whatever lotion is cheapest

Immediately after shaving, an astringent, I like hydrogen peroxide, but witch hazel or any non-oil based product will do. Then bring on my Nivea Extreme--great stuff. Occasionally if the dome has some red spots, some benzoyl peroxide before the Nivea. Let that dry and get some sunscreen, wide spectrum. My current favorite is Neutrogena Age Shield Face Sunblock, 90+spf, non-greasy.
More important is clean, keep it clean, keep it clear. Wash two to three times a day w/ a mild anti-bacterial soap like Cuticura--good for the skin and it feels so good too. Change pillow cases often.

Welcome aboard Brian! I use plain old aloe vera gel for an aftershave. If you have a local bed, bath and beyond in your area, check out Fruit of the Earth aloe vera. It comes in a clear plastic bottle with a blue spout. It is relatively inexpensive (I paid $3.79), and aloe has a natural healing effect to reduce redness. As for the oily scalp, i would recommend Bald Guyz head Wipes to keep you dry.....they are great, and really do the job. Lot's of luck, and slyness!

Here's what works for me.
I had bad back of the neck breakout/acne til I did this.
I wet my head and face down with HOT water. Wash really good with Body Essence with Tea Tree Oil from WalMart. Wash really good and rinse off with hot water.
Then I lube up with Head Slick until it's almost too dry from rubbing. I then use my head Blade in one direction and then relube with head slick for the opposite direction.
Then I shower up and wash my head and neck good with my soap/body wash.
When I get out and dry off I massage in Cocoa Butter lotion into my head.
Sometimes I touch up a bit with the electric razor but that's probably 3x a month with my daily routine.

Another vote for Bald Guyz Moisture Gel from me, or their Sunscreen SPF -30 which seems to me, has the same moisture gel base. O:O

i use, in the following order:
ice cubes
aftershave
moisturizer with sunscreen

Here lately I just use some cheap 2 dollar Gillette lotion. I prefer Prairie Creations, but I just haven't got around to ordering more. I've been meaning to grab some Bald Guyz.

Another vote for Aloe Vera. It's wonderfully soothing, and sometimes even adds the smallest touch of non-oily shine, without being over the top.
