It seems like they're not connecting all around on the sides. Is there anything I can do about that? I want to grow it in fully.
-
If it isn't growing, you cannot do anything.
-
The amount of facial hair you have is very much like the amount of hair you have on your head in the sense that they are both predetermined by genetics. The good thing about both is that you can shave them off and then not worry about the amount you were blessed with.
-
I don't actually raise the crop I'd prefer; if you'll look carefully at my photo you'll see that my chin is actually visible through my goat--you make the best of what you've got. Genes trump desire every time, at least when it comes to hair--whether it's growing where you don't want it or not growing where you do.
-
Same thing with me. I can't connect it all the way. I can grow a pretty nice beard everywhere else but the sides of my mouth. Oh well
-
Awww! Thanks guys. :(
-
Cheer up!
Perhaps you should try a different style?
-
I'm the same: my beard just won't grow at all between my tash (when I have one! :D) and my chin. 8)
-
I used to wear a rug before becoming sly so I took my old rug, cut it up and taped it on my chin gotta make use of it right? Just kidding.. :D
-
B&B , what you have looks fine , be satisfied keeping it neat and trim IMO.

The image that came to my mind wasn't pretty. !*u%e
IMO, the best way to find the beard for you is to just let everything grow for at least one month, then w/ a more realistic view of what's possible w/ your genetic makeup--trim carefully and let grow another two months to see if it works for you IN YOUR OPINION.
-
Looks fine to me. Let it get a little more full to see what you can do with a little styling. Longer moustache ends can be styled to grow over bare spots on both sides.
-
Maybe grow a moustache and a goatee on your chin with a separation between them?
-
That's what I think is fun about facial hair. So many different styles.. I mess around with mine a ton. Find one that fits you and run with it.. .you may be suprised what you end up liking! Keep growing it.. you'll see what you've got to work with.
Enjoy!

For the longest time my moustache and goatee didn't connect and still doesn't on the left side of my face. It is only a slight gap so usually i just let the moustache part of the left grow over the gap and usually that takes care of the problem.

looks good the way it is imo

I can't grow a good goatee either, I can do the chin part and the mustache part well, but everywhere else looks bad. It's a shame, I've always wanted a goatee :-\
This was me after about 9 days-

I have a friend who believes in using a Sharpee... (this is not a joke)
-
1. It looks fine to me the way it is. Looks nice and neat and trimmed.
but
2. If you don't like the fact that the stache doesn't connect to the beard, just keep the beard part. That's what I do because although my mustache does connect I look diabolical with a mustache and so always keep the stache shaved.

Nine days--BB it's going to be 30 days before anything can be decided, 30 not 9, and probably 3 months, yes months, until you begin to see what your current beard will do and six months until it's mature. As you get older it will probably improve, but for right now just let it grow and don't worry about it at all until 30 days, and don't think about shaving or massive trimming until 3 months. Beards require time and patience--if you haven't had serious itching you don't have a beard experience!

I'm going to try and go without shaving for awhile, the itch is what usually makes me give in and shave it all off. Also I can't seem to get used to the feeling of my beard rubbing up against my pillow.
I wish I would grow hair on the sides of my mouth, that way people would know I'm trying to grow a goatee. A mustache and chin patch just looks weird lol
-
I don't have enough hair in the right places so do my best to blend and deceive! I doubt I'm fooling anyone. :*))

Really? Your goatee looks good.
-
BaldBradley,you look great without a goatee,so it doesn't matter.
As opposed to you,I look terrible without one,and I wish I could shave it off.......

Thanks buddy. I've always wanted a goatee, but I think it would look weird on me because I am younger.
-
I grew a goatee for senior prom. I was in the bathroom and this guy says to me "Hey. I think you missed a spot shaving" It will come.
-
Why do you wish you could shave off your goatee? It looks good. Is it itching you?

COOL! It 's working! ;D

It wasn't full enough, and I felt like the dude from V For Vendetta. I only had it for like 3 minutes before I took that picture.

Patience. It's hard to persevere through the early scruffy stages, but the end result is well worth it.
-
Remember, it's about 20 minutes to sly, but it takes three months, yes three months, to see what you're capable of regarding face fur. Three months!
-
Yeah BB,
30 90 day rule applies for face hair. You have to give it a chance. The first few weeks that I grew mine out, I just let it go and let it do whatever. After that time, I could see that the sides and the front just weren't going to connect. It just looked too scragly; so I opted for the goatee and life was good (until the friggen job fair clean shave look fiasco :Xo!).
But I'm growing back. :) Patience. Think calm thoughts... cool, blue seas...! ;)
-
Bear in mind that even though it might take three months to see the final product, it can look somewhat decent well before that. Once you get past the first week or so it will still be stubbly but at least you can see the progress. The hardest part is just getting through the initial scruffy stage during the first 1-2 weeks.

Wow 3 months is a long time! I think once I get a full beard going it'll be easier. Razor X you are so right, the first two weeks are tough. I don't think I've ever gone more than two weeks. As soon as the itching starts is when I shave. Well I'm 1/18th of the way done, wish me luck.

Just because I would love to have a baby face, like Bradley.
I think it looks good.
I don't like hair,but I just can't go without the goatee.
It doesn't itch, but it requires grooming, and I hate using machines to shorten it,when it becomes a goat's goatee......
-
Yeah, I had to find a comb to keep mine straight looking :*)) and I threw all that stuff out years ago! :*)) I found one of my wife's combs that has real wide teeth. It sort of does the job. O0
Now I just have to grow the goatee out again :Xo! hurry up :Xo! O:O
