Title: Missing spots
Post by: GnomeansGno on June 16, 2010, 01:16:08 PM
Anyone else always find that they miss a spot when shaving?  I usually don't shave everyday (it cuts down the irritation for me), so when it grows out, it looks darker in some spots (more towards the back).  It's like no matter how many times I go over certain spots, I can never get everything 100% even.  Maybe it's impossible to get it perfectly even?

When it is smooth all over after you shave then you are not missing a spot. Perhaps the color/thickness/density of your hair really isn't completely the same in all areas. Or it is because of different hair growing directions, so the light is reflected differently. If it is so, then you'll have to live with it or shave more frequently, I guess.

I find it easy to locate missed spots as I'm putting on aftershave lotion.  If I find a spot I'll just go back over it with a razor and re-apply lotion.

As I am still relatively new to the game I do find myself frequently missing some spots.  I sure wish I could take off my ears, shave around them and then re-attach.

Rather than trying to get everything w/ one lathering &, since I use the brush/HS, I relather and give it another pass--almost 100%, no patches then.

I used to have the same issue.  I would shave and go over pass after pass, and later on I would feel my head and....uh oh!  No big deal,   it may just be the way your hair grows.  I would suggest an exfoliate like Headshed by Headblade, or I've found St. Ives Apricot Scrub to be just as effective.  It helps lift the hair a bit, and helps provide a smoother shave.  Hopefully, it will solve your issue.

Brush lather & shave twice...head feels so nice! I agree with saintc-seems to work for me too.

I will second using St. Ives.  And Third using a brush.  I hit the rough spots when I put on aftershave too.  So I would say that everyone is spot on.  Most important thing is that your not going to get it in one pass.  My first pass is purely for reduction.  The second pass if almost total eradication.  Then I get a little cream on my non shaving hand and feel for rough spots.  Then I touch up when I put on balm.  O0
