I was on another thread and got to talking about pets. I just wanted to know if you guys had any Pets or kid storys you wanted to post....I know this is kinda girlie, but I love to hear stories about how you came up with that name of your pet, or something funny your son or daughter did the other day.
Paulie....I know your son comes up with some stuff....just look who his father is!!!
-
hell, where do I start. both of my sons are clowns and come up with some crazy stuff. there is just too much to pick from right now. i'll get back to this.

Here's a couple links to prior posts about my 160 lbs of puppy - They're great with the kids
It's funny to see my 37 lb four-year-old son ordering these 80 lb pups to sit and go into their kennel.

My kids (Nicole 8, Alex 6) are non-stop, as is my dog. Kids both into tae kwon do, softball/baseball, soccer, and trying to get homework done. Couldn't have been luckier. Great pic of my daughter with one of the Raider Nation on my Myspace page. Go check it out.

My wife and I have 2 cats. Shadow(male), and Misty(female). We have had them since we've been married in 2000. As you have seen from my forum pic we also have a son. His name is Chase. That pic on the forum is old. I have a few in the gallery that are more recent. He just turned 1 year old on the 19th of this month (March). He's my buddy. He's actually a blessing to us both for different reasons. I don't really have funny stories about him yet except the cute little things he does from day to day since he's only 1. But I'm sure as he grows he will give me plenty to talk about. Sort of off the subject of funny stories, I do have a story about how he helped change my life for the better. I had worked at a steel company busting my a$$ for about 8 years before he was born. It was sort of a roller coaster from the beginning because on the day he was born he was breech. Then he was coming along too fast so they had to do an emergency c-section on my wife which meant I couldn't go back there with them. We thought everything was okay after that but then on the day we were suppose to go home, the third day, they came to us to tell us he had stopped breathing in the middle of the night and turned blue. Of course we freaked out but he had recovered and was doing better. They had moved him to the "Special Care Unit" just in case and had a respirator on him to help him breath if needed. They were never really sure what happened to him. They think it may have been a bad case of reflux and he may have choked on his milk but they weren't sure. My company was only letting me have 2 or 3 days off to be with my wife. After I let them know about the new condition they offered to give me about another week off. After a week my son was able to come home but he had to come home on a breathing monitor which would alarm if he stopped breathing. My wife wanted me home with her longer since she was having a hard time recovering and she wouldn't be able to take care of our son like she wanted. I explained this to my job but they didn't want to hear it. They wanted me back right away. I had done everything for this company. In the shop as well as in the office. After discussing with my wife I resigned from the job to take full care of our son. After my wife recovered she went back to work. Since I had all the extra time on my hands...Well as much time as I can have taking care of a child...I decided to give the fire department a try that I had been putting off for so many years. Now here I am getting closer to my dream of having a job that I really want and one that I now I will get something out of everyday. It probably wouldn't have ever happened without my little blessing coming along to give me that final push out of my old job that I needed.

Due to the fact that my better half is alergic to anything with four legs we only have fish. Four goldfish that are in two separate bowls only inches apart but by virtue of a wall have no idea the others exist!
They are called Derek and Dave (named after two batty 70 year old security guards at work), and Father Ted and Dougal (named after a hilarious Irish comedy programme about priests).
I have no kids yet, although we have one due in exactly ten weeks and counting so will have to tell you why we decided on the name of that one when it happens!

Hey Argyle, how about Yul or Telly (Savalas) for a boy or Sinead or Demi for a girl? Or, is that taking the whole SLY thing a bit too far? :-\

I am into Labradors. Always have been. Right now I have a 110lb. Chocolate named Murphy and a 10 month old Black named Bailey. Had to put down my 6 year old 120lb. Yellow named Casey in the Fall.

Sorry to hear about Casey....I can't imaging having to go through something like that!!!
I love labs, in fact I love them sooo much that I dated a guy longer than I should have because I loved his dog so much I couldn't leave her (I know it was a shallow thing to do, but if you knew the dog, you would've done the same).... :*)) We definately weren't a good fit, but the dog was wonderful...I loved her more than I liked her dad... He said she mourned me for a couple of weeks after I left! It broke my heart to leave her :'(

Sorry for your loss Tom, I had to put down my female mutt "Daisy" almost a year ago and it still kills me. But she is much better off now and not in pain any more.

Well my pet stores begin with my wife and mine relationship. When we meat and started to see each other :@` out of work, she had 6wk and 2days puppy Jack Russell (we discovered later he closer to a parson). Up this point of my life I only really liked large dog, but the little demon won me over. His name was Jack (Yes HotCajun, a Jack Russell named Jack) the ironic part about his name my wife choose his name before we knew each other. She named him after the maker of the finest baptist beverage from this continent. Jack Daniels.
We had our son and we name after ST Michael, (go figure a Catholic kid names his kid Michael)with our new addition to the house we decised that we need a dog that Michael would be able to play with, so enter stage left the American Shar Pei, Meike. Named after the hot chick in Eurotrip. At this point the wife has passed houselaw that all new names must begin with 'M.' Unfortunately Jack and Meike did not last long and were lost in our moves back to OK :'(
So now we have spawn all by himself and decided that kid needs a playmate/babysitter. We came into a friend who breeds minpin and took the pick of the litter, Maximus, AKA Max. :*)) Great dog good personality, but a lot of... yeah.
Recently we visited the pound in hopes of finding the perfect dog and the small hoe the our old Jack and Meike might be there. So the pound has brought upon us two other dog. Mini is my dog :-* and she is a :@`90lbs mutt. Monk was my wife response Mini's and mine bonding. Monk is about ten week old now, and looks like a German Wirehair Pointer with Choc Lab.
Great stories, pic and maybe video to come

I feel honored to be named after so many fine dogs.

You're in good company Max, my daughters name is Daisy which also seems to be pretty popular with dog owners. :)

A couple months ago, I was dropping my kids off with my parents to spend the night. As I was hanging around visiting with the folks, my 4 year old interrupts and says, "Dad, you hurry up and go home!" I replied, "Why hurry, what am I going to do when I get home?" Noah replies, "well, I guess you can play." So I said, "You and your sisters are here, so who am I going to play with?" He thinks on that for a minute and says, "You can play with Mom!"
I busted up laughing and told him that's the best idea I've heard in a while, I wonder if she'll go for it! O0

Growing up fast, Medic!

I just love the honesty kids have and the silly things they say. I can't think of anything my kids have done or said off the top of my head but here's a pic of my sons.

Here's a picture of my and my daughter at a friends wedding.
She's getting ready to finish her freshman year at college, so I'm pretty proud. No pictures on this computer of my son right now, but he's a handful, typical "I'm smarter then you" teenager. He'll grow out if it, or die. ;D
-
And her senior picture.

:*)) I love it when kids say things with such a straight face, not even knowing or trying to be funny.
I dated this guy who had two girls one 8 and one 5....the 8 year old was telling us a story and the 5 year old chimes in and says " Daddy her is lying...look her nose is growing" I had to get up and leave the room I was laughing so hard.

These are 2 of my favorite pictures of my son. About 8 years apart.

You all have beautiful Kids.
As you are all aware I just got a puppie 2 weeks ago, we named him Cayden, anyway Cayden is quite the charater, he has trouble walking some days, stumbles over his own 4 feet.
I got him on a Saturday, and he didn't sleep much that night, when I got home from work my gf was leaving for work so I had to stay up with him. We were napping on the couch, he would only sleep for about 45 minutes - 1.5 hours, before waking up. During one of our naps I made the fouton into a bed and he walked towards the wall and plumped down. while snoozing he was dreaming and crawled toward the edge, suddenly he fell off the bed onto the floor between the wall and the matress, he hit the flow wimpered for a second than was sleeping again it was pretty funny.
Another thing I love to watch is when he finds a sock on the floor, he'll carry it around like he's found a million dollars. Oh god he's such a goof, and so funny. We are in the process of house breaking him, well he realizes that i go out side i great treats, well he constantly begs to go out side, well sometimes he'll let out a dribble other times he'll just expect a treat..... soon enough he'll get the picture i think... I hope

lol...just be patient he will get the picture.....one thing that helped me potty train Zig was to regulate his food and take him out after he ate or drank. It didn't take long for him to know where to do his business and now he holds it or goes to the door.
-
A few days ago, Garrett, my 3 year old wakes up and comes running to our room. "Mommy, sumpings wrong with my penis" So I took him to go potty and it looked normal. Later on Cam and I asked him what was wrong with it and he said "it was curly" so Cam and I look at each other... and then tell him to show us with his finger what it was doing. He holds it in his genital area and points it straight out. haha... we about died laughing.
That's probably the first time he has ever realized what his penis can do. ha!

No children here but I do have this guy... 1 1/2 year old doberman with floppy ears named Mojo.
(https://www.slybaldguys.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg155.imageshack.us%2Fimg155%2F5240%2Fmojolf5.jpg&hash=ee876df917e78ef88047ec588c38f65d2d59a7a3)
He gets a lot of milkbones daily and has toys all over the house. He seems to enjoy trying to fit as many things in his mouth as he can at one time. I'll give him 3 large milk bones, he walks off and will hunt down his "blue man" kong toy and either a sock or something fluffy to hold all in his mouth at the same time. Then he prances around the house as though he's accomplished something. Actually, I guess he has. That's a lot of stuff.
Another time he came downstairs with a sock, walks up and drops it in my lap. Then goes back upstairs and comes down with another sock. and again... and again. Each time with a new sock. Just as I'm wondering where the hell he's getting all these socks, he comes down with a pair, perfectly matched and tucked in one other JUST like the are in my sock drawer. Needless to say, my sock drawer was open and he probably figured I left it open just for him. Had I not stopped him I have no doubt he would've emptied the entire drawer. Sock nirvana!

Cam is NOT getting a baby from me and that's final. If we can get a puppy and it's happy and healthy... maybe someday I'll consider it. But for now.... no babies, just a puppy... I'll even take a kitten if we weren't allergic. :D

My wife and I had 2 Akitas that we got 2 years apart as puppies. Our female's full name was Meschugene Keppele and we called her Kepi. She was about 110 pounds and wasn't afraid of anything but, like classical Akitas she never barked.
2 years later we got my bestest buddy ever, Mas. His name was short for Masutatsu Oyama, the founder of Kyokushin karate. He used to meditate sitting under a waterfall and alledgedly killed a charging bull by punching it in the forehead. My buddy Mas grew to be a bull, himself, weighing in at 140 pounds which is big for an Akita. He prevented a home invasion by local gang members when I was still on the street in Waukegan, kept me safe from a bear in the northwoods, and I am convinced that he would have happily given up his life to keep me or my wife safe from harm.
We had to send them both over Rainbow Bridge about 4 years ago. I still miss him, and I cry when I think about him. He was truly one of a kind and there will never be another like him.

Pets... kids...LOL I am the father of three sons (that's it's own thread) We have 2 dogs (a young flat haired retreiver named Roxie, and a very very old deaf, gettin' blind, baldin' Boxer named Georgette) Two cats (Spike and Spider) Two parrots (an African Grey aptly named Loki and a conure named Cosmo) a ball python named Mustaffa and a bearded dragon named Sam (Sam ate Frodo!!) . Your pets and children all sound great. However, I believe my rotten to the bone Rat Terrier, Skeeter has to be the best of the lot.
I'm prejudiced! He is now 8 years old. He was given to me by my late wife the Christmas before she passed. This is undoubtedly the smartest dog I have encountered. He goes to the pantry and comes out whinning for food, the same at the door for his constitutional time. And God, this dog loves coffee. If you set a cup down, he will run over and nudge the cup with his nose and look at you and whine. Lord, I wish I could have a full cup of coffee for myself! Come bath time, you can't find him. But let me turn on the lawn sprinklers and he goes into attack mode. Running from sprinkler head to head trying to eat them alive. Quite amusing. And of course he has the short man syndrome. Will try to attack any bigger dogs that would have him for lunch. I have to pick him up to get by them.

I don't know what happened there, but the dog's name is Skeeter. He is 8 years old. You can read the rest I think
