Title: Keeping You Posted - I'm In
Post by: johnnyo on May 31, 2010, 10:01:03 PM
:) Hey all, This past Friday came, I still wasn't sure, Saturday I almost did it, but decided not to, Sunday, I went to Walmart where there was a Cost Cutters and almost went in, I looked around Wal Mart and saw bunches of other sly guys, so I thought, tomorrow Memorial Day. It has always been a day of remberances for me so I'll just add one more thing to remember, so I went in to Cost Cutters and there were two other guys in chairs getting buzzed too so I told the nice lady, I want one of those, 30 minutes later, I was free.. I walked around Wal Mart where noone knew me and nobody even gave me a second look, like I had been worried about. So now, I just have to clean out my bathroom of all brushes, gels, and all that other stuff that I was wasting money on. Thanks for all your positive interactions. I'll keep reading on how to maintain my new look. thanks. I'm free and happy. It's my head, I'll do what I want with it....

What a great way to remember your sly anniversary.   Great points you made -- how looking around you saw a bunch of other sly guys - and that after you did it - nobody stared,  nobody pointed,  nobody laughed,  nobody shrieked with fear.  Its so mainstream that its more of the norm than the odd guy out.

Thanks, I'll keep in touch, even if it's just to talk. Great bunch of guys. Hopefully, I can offer some advice to that one person who is teetering on the fence and help him too. Have a great week.

That's correct JohnnyO.  Did you just get a buzz?  If so, you are headed in the right direction.  Try the blade, if you don't like it, in a couple of days it will be back to what you have now.

Congrats on your new found freedom!  If you haven't shaved completely give it a shot.  You'll be taken to a whole new level!

Hi guys, Yes, when I was in the chair, I started out with a #1 and I told the lady I was planning to shave it eventually, she said that when I did, I should come back for another cut without the guard, I told her if I was going to have to come back then just cut it all the way down so she did.  then when I came home, I used my electric shaver to really make it smooth all the way. I really like it. Everyone just keeps telling me to watch out for the sunburn, so I'm planning to go get some sunscreen  any ideas on what SPF? High or low,  I read from one of you that it made your head sting with a high SPF. Yes, I realize now that I should have done it along time ago. My real test will come this weekend, I have a big function where I'll be around alot of people who actually know me. Course, they knew me with that stupid rug, so they will probably be glad I ditched the rug!! I'll keep you informed. thanks.

You know I often hear people worry about what others are guna think. But if u think about its just another style, and people are gonna look at anyone. I remeber my grandparents talking about long hair its just a different generation.

I don't worry what others think anymore.  Going home in July to see my Mom, she has not seen my Sly only buzzed.  She likes me with hair, but not going to let it grow back for anything  :)  As for SPF for the head, Nivea moisturizer for men has an SPF of 20.  Not sunburned yet  :D
