Hello out there to all my new sly bald brothers! my name is Johnny, im 22 yrs old, im from L.A. Cali and i'm currently in the the middle of a losing battle with my hair :-[ i don't have an actual bald spot nor is my hairline recieding, but my mop is getting very thin on top and im shedding strands here and there daily. Im trying to find peace with the idea of going bald but i cant. i KNOW that no matter what i do or how many BullS#!t products that guarantee my hair to magically grow back i buy, that im gonna end up buh buh bbb..bald :'( i read somewhere online about the five stages towards acceptance (Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance), and i find myself constantly jumping back and fourh through all five stages everyday. It's literally stopping me from getting on with my life. The reason it's bugging me so much is because i am (or atleast will be for the time being) known as the hairy one not because of my body hair, but because of my head. I had so much hair on my head that the average hair grooming products couldn't hold my hair, my barber would jokingly complain about how much he had to work everytime i went in, and to top it off i'ma Rockabilly! i just cant fathom the idea of going from a full head of hair to.....POOF! nada! I NEED HELP on finding acceptance and satying with acceptance. any advice brothers? oh and i forgot to mention that i'm chicano, i have tattoos (most are Punk Rock/ Rockabilly related) and im from Los Angeles, which means if i shave my head, im going to look like a "cholo" gangmember, which i am not!!!
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME,
JOHNNY
SOON TO BE,
HAIRLESS JOHNNY O0

Hey Johnny, you can quickly cut through the 5 stages by shaving your head. I went from a full head of "hair" (hey it was my hair -- I paid good money for that hair -- sure it came off once a week to clean it) to totally sly and absolutely love it. I don't spend a second thinking about or worrying about my hair anymore. Its a non-issue. Every day you spend thinking about it is a day wasted on something that in the end was a non-issue. Shave it!

^ This.
And welcome! O0

Welcome to the forum, Johnny. You've come to the right place. O0
Ok now, vato .... here's the thing. No doubt you dress like you belong to the L.A. punk/rockabilly crowd, so I seriously doubt anyone (at least in L.A.) is going to peg you as a card-carrying member of La Eme.
So ... shave you head, get over to Melrose and go on a buying binge, or check out King Cat Hollywood: http://bit.ly/atWQq6 and pour yourself into some new threads. You're gonna love the new, slick, Johnny Cat. (And so will the Johnettes!)

Welcome man. It's nice to have more young guys in here (20 myself). I definitely went through/am going through everything you just described. I think it just takes time, and supportive people (friends, this great group of guys) etc. and you come to accept it.

Welcome johnny, and post a pic after you shave it off.

Welcome Johnny!
You don't have to shave. But when you're thinking about it, don't be afraid to try it. Maybe you'll love it instantly, like so many other SBGs. Who knows?

I was in the same boat as you. Mine didn't "recede", it just kind of thinned out. I hated the thinning and I shaved it. The decision is up to you. I will promise you that no one will recommend anything else around here ;)

Hi Johnny,
I have a full head of hair, but am I comfortable with myself being sly. Take the plunge I am sure you will love it :D

Go for it - - -and remember you can always grow it back
