I think when I first started headblading I was so obsessed with each headshave being perfect that I was overdoing it leading to extra irritations...I have come to realize that the slightest bit of stubble that may seem like a horrendous issue when carefully running my finger over my head is notr visible to the rest of the world! Best to do a nice clean job and not go so crazy that my head starts to look like a roadmap from irritations!
Also thanks to this board for making me discover the witchazel use--Love it!

Great thought - and one I need to adopt. Not having any problems with irritation from overshaving here (yet), but I do find myself going completely OCD about how smooth the end result is. This is part of why it takes me so long in the AM to get finished.

I was doing the same thing. Just yesterday I realized that I don't need to be so particular. No one is looking at my head as close as I am.

And it feels like Velcro by 5 or 6 pm anyways.

Exactly!!!!!

The quest for the ultimate smooth shaved head is fine for some. But many of the new SBG members are having a problem with bumps and irritation . This no doubt is from over shaving and they may have to settle for less than perfectly smooth.

I am actually finding less is more--by keeping up this practice the dome is actually smoother then when I was going a bit overboard...irritation does not a smooth dome make!
It could also be that I am just more used to the headblade now so I I am able to doo more with less passes....

Now, that's wisdom based on experience.

Not only that, but have you guys noticed that once you towel off your scalp, the rough spots aren't as noticeable as when your skin is wet?
A modestly priced electric razor is a tool that every sly guy should have handy. It comes in handy if you cut yourself and aren't able to shave a particular spot with a blade while you're waiting for the injury to heal. It also is useful if have a stubborn spot that you can't get smooth. Instead of going over and over the spot with a blade, shave it once and then run the electric over it a time or two. Usually it's enough to get the job done and it's not nearly as likely to irritate your skin.

Yup--I actually use the electric Panasonic linear to tidy up around the ears

That's exactly what I do with a Panasonic and actually use the Witch Hazel as a lubricant. I would love to try the new Conair thingamahickey with the curved blades for the head -- if it was in stock anywhere

I bought the Conair Clean Head about two months ago. I love this thing, but I think I'm over-doing it and I'm having better luck with the HeadBlade as far as irritation. As mentioned, I need to focus less on every little hair.
Saying that, the Conair seems a great product if your head isn't irritated by electrics. I bought mine at Amazon and got it a couple days later.

I'm guilty of this too. I need to stop being so anal about it... but it's hard! That SMOOTH feeling is just SO addicting! ;D

You guys are spot on. I do go over my head after shaving to get to spots I missed. But not as obsessed now as I used to be :)
-
I'm OCD like that too. I'm trying to let it go but, crud, it's hard to do!

Marcx Love the beard too. I was never really attracted to guys with facial hair, but now its really growing on me
