Title: Redness
Post by: GnomeansGno on May 09, 2010, 09:21:55 PM
Anyone else have this problem?  It isn't acne (I've finally gotten rid of that problem), it's just redness that doesn't look good at all.  It actually hurts a little, especially when I touch it.  Is it shaving against the grain that's causing it?  And if so, can anyone recommend me a product that may work for this type of problem?  The redness isn't all over my head, just in certain areas.  It's like certain parts of my head get irritated more than other parts.

Pretty sure that's razor burn. Use a new or better razor and don't go over those spots more than a pass or two.

+1  make sure you re-lather between passes.  NEVER shave over a spot that doesn't have shaving cream on it.  Don't let it get too dry.

I would definitely recommend using a fresh razor after about 4-5 shaves.  Using a dull razor certainly leads to irritation, nicks and cuts.  Also, try applying some aloe vera gel after shaving.....try keeping it in the fridge  too.  It will make your head feel nice and cool, and will tone down the redness.  Lastly, I would recommend Aveeno Positively Smooth shave gel (light blue cap).  It has some nice extracts in the ingredients, and helps prevent irritation, as well as nicks.  I've been using it for over a year now, and the results are great.  Good Luck!

Rinsing your head with cold water after shaving helps too, along with what everyone else suggested. So does time and improved technique. :) I can shave with a Bic single blade now and not get irritation....couldn't have done that ten years ago.
