I recently put up a status on Facebook about having a motorcycle and the reason I don't have one. I mentioned the reason I didn't have one was the same reason I won't go skydiving, even though I really, REALLY want to. It's because I have a family that depend on me. So, I got to thinking. What are some things that you really would love to do but don't because of whatever reason?
I would love to go skydiving, hang gliding and bungee jump off that bridge in WV I read about! lol
I guess I'm a closet adrenalin junkie. :D

i actually quit rodeoing cause of my son. saw a close friend get hurt pretty bad and knew i could not take care of him if that had happened to me. but i have done alot of crazy stuff too. just kinda toned it down some. but i do still have a list. lol
-
GAslick, if you think you're a closet adrenalin freak, you might try something like getting involved with a local volunteer fire department, or maybe assist paramedics/ambulance driver. From what I've heard you might get an adrenalin rush or two. O0
As for riding a motorcycle, I guess it depends on how you ride that would get you your adrenalin rush. C#)P
Regarding your other ideas, jumping out of a perfectly good plane (with a parachute) is another incredible rush, and I'm sure bungee jumping would be right up there too (just make sure the bungee is short enough- ow :/O ).

I have Bungee Jumped.....very cool!!!!
I'm not certain how many "crazy things" I'm interested in doing anymore.

When my oldest daughter was born, I sold my motorcycle. That was just over 30 years ago. I never, I mean never, see a bike without a serious case of OMG I wish I was on that.
Sky diving, bungee cords--given a real chance I probably would. My wife & I on our honeymoon in Mexico were on the beach and parasailed--great rush. Then at dinner, someone mentioned that there had been instances of a sudden gust of wind taking the sailor into a building near the beach--that was also a rush--and we never told our parents what we had done.
-
If I had the money I'd definitely buy a Harley-style bike.
I highly recommend skydiving. It's like nothing else in this world. I went tandem (strapped to another dude ><) the first and only time. As soon as I landed I remember wanting to go again immediately and by myself. Probably the biggest rush I've ever experienced. Such an awesome experience!
As far as bungee jumping goes, just the thought of it scares the hell out of me. Is it weird that I'm completely willing to jump out of a plane at 13,000 feet but am scared to death of bungee jumping?

I'd love to have a motocycle, but I'd be one of those people who'd want to ride without a helmet and in shorts since I hate having clunky things on my body and long clothing. I do not have a motocycle because :
Prefer having my organs inside my body
I do not like having gravel embedded in my skin
-
I would have a cycle but I've already had enough lifesaving surgery....no need to push my luck on that front....I would have one moment of foolishness and that would be it.
I have never found skydiving or bungee jumping appealing because I really don't like heights that much, yet I don't have much issue with driving up narrow mountain roads. Go figure.

I would like to travel the world for many years. I want to be a digital nomad or business backpacker, as they call it :)
Location independent work that requires only the internet and hard work, like making websites or writing... :)
-
I've always wanted to sky dive. I want to ride my Bike the 1600 miles to Sturgis one day.
You get one life and it's short... so do those things you think may be a bit dangerous.... like riding a motorcycle.
-
I wish I had a motorcycle. I went as far as getting my license. Used to have a hot rod in high school and college. I repelled on occasion. I'm a volunteer fire fighter (14 years) guess that will have to fill the hole. I never had a taste for bungee jumping or sky diving.

After riding Moto-X with my cousing on and off for about 8 years and as well a Tib/Fib fracture I decided it wasn't worth it any more.
I do want to rebuild ( or just buy ) a 1970 Buick GS stage 1 ....I know that's not real crazy.
-
Really I'm not an adrenaline junkie. I'm usually a truck driver at the VFD. I do love cars and motorcycles. Here is my project car. It will just be a cruiser.

Yeah but it will be a crazy journey to find one!!! Beauty car man.

The strangest thing I found from my skydive was that there was no real sensation of height. At 12,500ft (or whatever it was) you are so high up that things become abstract. You actually lose the perspective that you're up really, really high and instead it seems like you're looking down at a really big and detailed map. Even when I was falling I didn't have that sense of weightlessness or butterflies in my stomach like I expected. It seemed more like I was lying down and being blasted with an intense stream of air.

Ride cross country easy rider style. I live in Pa and have been up to candada and down to florida on the bike. Rode out to minnesota a couple of times. I would like however to head west maybe hit some of route 66 that is left. If I had the time I would like to do it on my 50cc moped. Sure anyone can ride a 1000+cc bike cross country no challenge there. ;D

I've rappelled, am scuba qualified, and mountain climbed. However, I have no desire to trust my life to a giant rubber band or to leave an airplane in perfectly good working order. I would love to pilot a hot air balloon though some day.
-
Flip the switch on the electric chair while it holds the guy who stole my parents car.
-
I'd like to be a quality control consultant in a cathouse, but I don't think my wife would approve... >:D

I would love to jump out of an airplane again, but the idea of going up real high in a hot air balloon (without a parachute) scares the sh*t out of me.

I have been riding street bikes since '01, and man I have took an interest in those Trike ultralight planes in the last few years. Looks like it could be fun.
-
I'm not sure if you guys would call this crazy or not. but Ive often thought about saving up around 10-15 grand and just getting in my truck and driving. When i get tired of driving (not sleepy tired) just set up wherever i end up and start 100% new. My mom is what stops me all of her children have moved far away and im the only one left that can come see her daily
-
New_Shine, I hear ya! That has always been a dream of mine. I'm married with a family and that's what stops me.
-
I've been riding motorcycles for 22 years (Virago, V-Max, and currently a Vulcan) and I've also jumped from a perfectly good airplane 5 times in the military with a static line.
If you decide to jump, I'd recommend the static line scenario. Even my 53 year old sister-in-law has done that about 10 times.
I've done just about everything else I've wanted to do except build a business to the point of being able to support me and my wife. I'm still working on that, and these days that's a pretty crazy thing to want to do.
-
I've jumped but not alone, tandum (im not sure if thats how it is spelled) jump only. was a blast. i've also bungie jumped. both were fun as hell and i reccomend them to anyone !!!

Stand on top of K-2.

that would be cool tom

I'd like to get back to flying. I'd want to buy my own plane. Rentals are getting ridiculous price-wise. 8)

The New River Gorge bridge is nuts. They have an event there every year called Bridge Days or something like that. It's basically a huge gathering of base and bungee jumpers who jump off the bridge. Such a cool place to visit, though.

travel ROute 66 in a convertible.

I've seen that on TV and I would do it in a second!

I am an adrenaline junkie too. I want to ride a real bull some day, Ive broke horses and the rush I get from that is awesome, nothing like it. Up until this summer I always wanted to go cliff jumping ever since I started jumping off of bridges (sounds worse than it is). We have a little river north of here that has tons of bridges that are 5-15' off the water, nice deep parts around them. Ive been jumping off of those for half my life. Finally some friends and I went out and found some cliffs and started jumping. Started off small, 5', 10', then the 30' high cliff and from there went to one that was about 60'. The 30' high one was nerve wracking for me, took me about half hour to get the courage to jump. After that it came so easy. The rush from jumping from way up high on a rock into the river/lake where you dont really know what all is down there is amazing. I get so much energy from it.
As for other stuff I think driving a super fast car would be fun or going deep sea fishing. Ive already done tons of crazy stuff and Im only 21, like 'roof riding' where you hang onto the the luggage racks of an SUV while a friend drives like crazy through the woods trying to throw you off, jumped from roofs, all that. The whole falling feeling is awesome.

Does going to Disneyland with the grandkids count?

anything Disney counts as crazy!

Motorcycle? Yup, I've done it and given the chance I'd have another in a heartbeat. Bungee jump? Yup, I did it a couple of weeks ago, twice in the same day. Believe it or not, hot air ballooning can be a rush as well. This past Sunday was the final day of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. I had the great fortune of flying on Thursday October 7th (an early birthday gift from the pilot I crew for) and we both commented on how big a rush it was as we ascended from the field. I rode bulls, that was quite a rush. However, like Burke, the realization set in that if I were badly injured I would be unable to take care of my family. I'll do nearly anything for a rush.

Well, it's something I've wanted to do, and now I'm on a path to doing it :) C#)P C#)P C#)P. My wife approves, and I've lined up the riding course for 12/9 through 12/13. I've had two bikes in my life, a Triumph Tiger Cub, and a Kawasaki after law school until my oldest, now 33, was born. But, because I got my mind "twisted" in law school, I checked it out and found that most old f_rts who take it up again have serious accidents :'(, UNLESS they take a riding course, and as a corollary to that fact all riders who take the course have a significantly reduced chance to have accidents. Once the course is done, the licensing completed, I'm going to rent the Harley's I've identified, 1200 low and Dyna Super Glide, then in the spring, March probably I'll get my dream machine based on my renting experience. Have to say, Brother Koz has been great and generous with advice and counsel in this endeavor. It's hard to express how excited I am about this, I'm buying my clothes, boots--got them, etc. for the deal. Located a place to store the machine nearby since our house doesn't have a garage so I'm putting all the pieces in place. Funny thing, my wife keeps bringing it up when we're out with people--it's like some validation thing--if I could only bring her over on sly like she is on bikes. Of course--a comfortable passenger seat is going to be a priority on the new machine for all that support. :@`
