I received my first head fry of the year. You'd think I'd learn. I was at a bike show sitting in a booth all day. I felt my head frying .. and yet I just let it fry.

I finally had the since to put a hat of sorts on but the damage was done. Now I have massive peeling on my dome and neck. Head Slick helps a little ..

No fun at all! Haven't fried the dome this year (yet), but I still remember last Labor Day when I burned it bad! Couldn't shave for almost a week (never want to go that long without shaving the dome ever again!)

No sunscreen either? What were you thinking????

Tsk tsk! I only needed to see one or two pictures of guys with bald heads and massive holes from skin cancer to make me wear sunscreen everyday.
There seems to be a delicate balance between tanning and burning your noggin. I had two very small dark spots pop up on my head in the past couple months that were bothering me. The doc took one look and said they were just freckles, which I had suspected, but the interesting part was what he told me about the skin of your head.
Apparently the skin under your head hair naturally produces less melanin (or melanocytes? something, forgot what he said exactly) so it's more prone to UV damage than the skin on the rest of your body. So definitely wear sunscreen, especially around the summer time.

I will add my 2 cents. Wear your 45 or more and dont play games. I just had another 2 thingys frozen off my scalp. It taint worth it long term.

Yep, you have to be careful in the sun. So with that said, I really like to tan, naturally, when on vacation, and very seldom ever put on a sunscreen on my body, but my head, a 30psf and regularly. And a cap. and when at the beach, use that umbrella. I don't get to tan in the Summer in Illinois, except for the farmer's tan, but I do wear a cap everyday.
I've never had a problem, and do have the doctor check me every year at check up time.
He always says, "wear cap, use sunscreen regularly, stay out of the sun, don't drink beer, and no good whiskey either, exercise regularly, take your BP meds, on and on.
They just don't want you to have any fun.
