Title: BaldRob's P90X Update
Post by: BaldRob on April 22, 2010, 09:40:17 AM
So, those of you that are on Facebook probably see my P90x daily updates...  For those of you that aren't on Facebook, here's the lowdown!

I am currently in my 7th week of the Lean program.  I wanted to get rid of the belly fat and trim down before I started the classic program.

Before I started, I found some jeans and pants that I haven't worn (or been able to wear) in over 4 years... needless to say, they still didn't fit at all!  Couldn't even come close to getting the button closed...

Now, 7 weeks in, I am comfortably into those jeans/pants... and one of the pairs, I need a belt so they don't fall down too low!

With just over 6 more weeks to go, I'm definitely going to be shopping for new jeans soon!

Of course, I have been eating right as well... I wouldn't have gotten the results I have so far if I had continued to eat the way I was!  Nutrition is a key part of any workout program to get the results that you want...

If anyone has any P90x questions, feel free to ask... I'll help out as much as I can!!

BRING IT!!

Nice going, Rob....P90X ROCKS!!!

It's amazing how "sore" you can be after just doing 1/3 or less of just the Yoga-X DVD!!!  Not to mention the other killer workouts.  Tony H. is the Sh***

I bought the package -- including the beach bar -- and just haven't had the guts to start.   Are you using weights or the bands?   I bought the bands but wonder if they're as effective as weights?

You look great(as I eat a Gargantuan from Jimmy John's with extra mayo and avocado)...I'm sure your looking even better(as I sip a beer) since I saw you...what a week ago?  Thanks for the tips on INSANITY...(as I go for a large Blizzard at DQ)...

It doesn't take guts to start... you just have to wake up one day and say "I'm starting this today!"

Right now, I'm using mostly weights...  I do use the bands however for the back (read: pullups) portion.  I'm weak on pullups and decided that during the "Lean" program, I would use the alternate method.  Once I start the "Classic", I will be doing the pullups...

I just obtained a copy and I'm going to do the same thing - lean program with bands.  Then I'll work up to the pull ups.  Thanks for the tip!

Midway through week 11 and still going strong (and getting stronger and losing weight!)  I did miss one day due to not being able to carry my weights with me in my carryon bag on a work trip, but I made that day up the next day and added in an extra cardio too!

Haven't jumped on the scale since the end of week 8, but I was down a total of 27 pounds at that point.  I will give a final update at the end of week 13 before I take a week off and start the "Classic" program!

Bring it!!

Week 12 started today... and since my jeans have definitely become a lot looser over the last 11 weeks, I stopped at a store to buy a couple new pairs...

When I started this back in March, I was a solid 38 (and 40 in some cuts).... the jeans I bought today (that fit awesome) are...

Wait for it...

I'm curious about this.

My sister and her fiancĂ©e do P90X so I'm vaguely familiar with the concept, but what is this "lean program"?  Because that's what I need to do.  I've been so lethargic and lazy these last couple years (and a few too many college binges, if you know what I'm sayin), that I feel like whenever I work out I'm just not in shape enough TO work out.  Like I'm having to over compensate various muscle flexes and as a result its messing up my form and routine.  I've thought about just going on strict cardio or something to just lose some off the top so I can actually get down to working the real stuff, but this sounds like a far better alternative.

Is it something included in the P90X box or is it something sold separately?

It's just a different way of doing the program...  The book and the calendar give you the details for each program: Classic, Lean, and Doubles.

Lean is more cardio and less weights...

Drew. Try doing Power 90---which is like P90X light. But still hard, I lost weight and got pretty cut doing that.
I finally started to do P90x itself---mixing it with heavy weightlifting. I do Kenpo, plyometrics and cardiox along with my weight lifting. My wife is doing P90x Lean all out after giving birth about 8 months ago. The workouts are KICK ASS ! Love em. But they are hard and were a big adjustment for me and my weightlifter type training.
Rob---awesome man...good for you bro. I will be doing some type of P90x mass at some point. Looking forward to it.

After a week off after finishing the Lean workout (90 days - 38 pounds lost and 4.5" off my waist), I started the Classic Version this morning!

I tell you what, I was craving a workout... and I pushed it hard today!  And it felt awesome to be back into it!  Can't wait for the results from the next 90 days...

It's much, much better...  Lots of lean protein and veggies.  I'm a bread person so I do eat a fair amount of carbs... fat intake on a daily basis is between 10 and 20%.

From what I was eating, like pizza once or twice a week, gyros, burgers, heavy sauces, etc... I still eat that stuff, but I limit it to one "bad" eating day every 2 to 3 weeks...

WRONG!!

It's tough for ANYBODY.....and like ANYBODY with ANY workout program....you have to be reasonable and know yourself and your limitations or ailments.

This 48 year old made great strides with P90 and then P90X and I was out of shape, with Diabetes....

Welcome to SBG, by the way, ian  O0

Alright, I read this whole post today and now I'm officially interested in p90x.  My only concern is that I *may* not be able to workout every day because I spend every other day at the fire station.  Do you still think I would benefit from the workout program if I was unable to adhere strictly to the dvds?

I could probably do the dvds at the station--but if I get called out obviously I'm not going to be completing the workout as prescribed.

That is awesome Rob.  I've got to start something and I might give this P90X a try.  I'm 39 years
old and about 40lbs over what I should be.  I went in for my annual check up and Doc wasn't to
happy with me.  My problem is I like to eat.  I'm probably going to start off with some cardio and
light weights before I start P90X though because I don't want to kill myself out of the gate.  Any
tips?

Rob,

What a great transformation! You look awesome.

I recently lost 30lbs with Power 90 and am on day #14 of P90X as well. Down another 6lbs. I decided to go with the Lean workout for the first 90 days to get used to the intensity, and then I will switch over to classic where I will really hope to get more defined.

You are a great inspiration story. Interested in learning how to get 25% of Beachbody products then shoot me a DM.

I want to try Insanity, but I hear that is crazy hard even if you are in top condition!

So.... to update (even though I haven't in months) everyone:

I'm on my 4th round of P90x, but I've mixed Insanity into it for a higher level of cardio conditioning during this round.  If you haven't tried insanity, it definitely lives up to its name...

As far as other health updates... I've lost a total of 62 pounds (started March 11, 2010 at 244 pounds and weighed in at 182 as of last Sunday) and I've been smoke/tobacco free for almost 3 weeks now!

Wondering what Rob is doing now... read that he lost 62 lbs- jeez that's like an 8 year old. I am starting p90x within the next few days after failing Insanity because of weak joints.

I'm only 180-185 but I have some flab and no muscle. Plus my diet sucks. I'm really doing it for extra-powerful cardiovascular conditioning and a lesson in eating healthy/avoiding disease.
