Title: WHAT was your favorite movie of 2009?
Post by: warhawk on March 08, 2010, 09:21:16 PM
hello fellow chrome domes:   after watching the last part of the "OSCAR's"  last night... i disagreed on the category of movie of the year in which "HURT LOCKER" was voted as "best movie of the year".  in my opinion... the best movie and my favorite movie of 2009 was "AVATAR".

so... how 'bout U?  what was your personal "best movie" of 2009?  was it "hurt locker"?  avatar?   blind side?  what's your story?  oh... on a side note.... i have never heard of the movie "hurt locker" until last night.  if U have watched that movie.... did U agree that it was deserving of "best movie" of 2009?

Very funny, and it had zombies. What's not to love? (I am an admitted zombie geek, though) :D

I don't go to the movies much but I thought "Inglorious Basterds" was very entertaining.

Julie & Julia.  I'm fascinated by Streep, always have been.  She has the talent to really convince me of the personality of the character--and here looking at Streep was looking at Julia Child, all the movements, inflections of speech, everything.  The storyline, IMO, did not do enough to show the source material for Julia, My Life in France.by Julia Child and her nephew.  Great book.  So much of Streep's acting obviously came from the insights into Child's personality contained in the book.
I haven't seen Blind Side, I've read the book though.  There's really not much detailed material about the Touhy family in the book, however.  I don't know what they used to flesh out the characters of the Touhy family.  We were really eager to read the book because Sean Touhy and my wife are related, his great grandmother and my wife's grandfather were bother and sister.  The book just didn't flesh out the characters, they were flat cardboard cut outs.  This was the author's effort to show people he knew a lot about one part of football, IMO.  We did find it interesting that he went to Newman School in New Orleans.  That's where the Manning boys, Peyton, Eli and Cooper, also went.
