Title: A year supply of razors potentially ruined
Post by: Tyler on March 08, 2010, 11:29:53 AM
This past weekend I went into my shaving drawer looking for the handle to my M5 razor only to find it sitting in a puddle of goo.  Upon further digging I also found several other things that were sitting in that puddle of goo, a larger portion of those things were a years worth of Gillette Sensor Excel blades that were submerged.

After digging frantically to determine what the goo was, I stumbled upon a open bottle of body wash that had been placed in the drawer upside-down.   DOH!

While the other stuff can easily be washed, dried and placed back in the drawer, I'm afraid that the corrosive nature of the body wash has already started wearing down the blades.  I'm thinking the whole supply is going to be of no use.  I tried one out today and it was one of the worst shaves I've had.  I'm going to see if any of the other packs are any better.  I'll let you guys know the outcome.

Moral of the story:  Keep your blades away from all liquids and likely hood of liquids being spilled on the.

I'd love to blame it on the "help" but I think my 2 1/2 year old might be the one to blame for this one.

Damn!  Too bad.  I just ordered 40 Mach 3 blades.  That could literally be 4 years' worth (with storing them in olive oil).  I'll be sure to stow them away dry and safe.
I might actually just sell some of them at cost on sbg.

Actually, they are Sensor Excel blades that I bought off of Amazon.com.  I think it was around $60, so it wasn't too much money, but enough to hurt to lose all the blades.

Buying in bulk saves!  I buy mach 3 blades in bulk, less than a buck a blade.  And I don't know what you're buying but sly isn't too expensive for me.  I use a  mach 3, olive oil and generic gel.  That's it.  It's much cheaper than going to a barber once a month.
