Hi everyone. Been struggling with MPB since I was 19. It's been difficult, especially lately. I'm very successful is many aspects of life, but have never been able to get over being bald at such a young age. I'm 24 now and am fed up with combing my hair forward trying to cover it up. It looks terrible at this point. Yet my mom assures me it doesn't look that bad. She doesn't want me to go sly. Just today she suggested I get a weave. I don't even know what that is, but I don't want one. Went into the Hair Sciences of Colorado a few months back and the doc said my donor hair is too poor for a transplant. He suggested I take Propecia, use Rogaine and Nizoral and maybe I could improve my hair in the back enough to bring it up front. Give me a break. I took Propecia for a week and tossed it. No way I want to be on that drug for the rest of my life. I'm currently off all meds and in the acceptance stage. It's not my fault.
Bought a headblade and some supplies at Walgreens today. Ready to take the plunge. Really I feel like I have no choice. I don't want to sport my current hairdo anymore and it's only getting worse.
I've read your posts and been encouraged at what I've read. Thank you, especially raxorx for that last post. I'm determined to give it 30 days. I just wanted to introduce myself and say Hi. I'm Nick from Colorado.

Sunday morning is the day. I'm hoping it's sunny, because I have to be back to work Monday. I'm a fairly tan dude, so I'm expecting some pretty pale skin underneath. Hoping to tan it a little, but prepared for a stage of different colors on my head. So over spending every minute thinking about my hair....

Hey Nick! Glad you could join us. You definitely made the right decision. Congratulations!

Welcome Nick. Good luck with your first shave.

Welcome. Do the preparation, hot shower, lather up. And shave slowly, there's no rush. No pressure--then enjoy.
I often think about the relative "benefit" of early and later onset of mpb. I'm beginning to think that early ultimately works out better bc there will be less daily shaving if you get a clearly smooth top naturally.
Also, you mom, like wives and family, they want to hold onto the image of you from their past. It's a nice thought I guess, and maybe by doing so they hold on to their own self image as a younger person. But time and mpb marches on. You've made the right choice, and ditching the drugs was really nice, it shows you have respect for your body and don't yield to high pressure sales pitches that try to make guys insecure with the march of time and mpb. It's the safe, sane and proven way to deal with it. You're going to like it--remember 30 days--that's the rule.

The problem: MPB. The solution: Sly. Anything else is "Arranging the deck chairs on the 'Titanic.'"

If you're like most guys that come here, you'll ask "why didn't I do this sooner" once the deed is done.
-
Nick, glad you are about to join the Sly faternity.

Good for you Nick! I'll be with you and the sly guys soon!

Welcome --- and good luck with the Big Shave.
-
The deed is done gentlemen. It was more difficult and took longer than I expected. Actually had to do it over two shower sessions, because I ran out of hot water. Glad the big shave is done and looking forward to the week with the new look! So far, I like it, but am still not fully adjusted yet. Time will tell. Thanks for the support!

Now that's one fine looking Dome O:O. I hope you're enjoying the freedom and that you'll become a regular contributor on the Forum helping others to get where you are.
Remember 30 days. The "Who's that dude in the mirror?" will subside, and become, "Damn that looks good!"

Welcome Nick, and it looks fine.

Simply great! :@`

Well done!!!
and looking GREAT!! :-)

You're rocking it Nick!

hey nick: U look like a natural. i cannot imagine U with hair. remember 2 stick with the sly look for the entire "30 day rule". this means that U must maintain ultimate dome smooooothness for 30 straight days. after the "30 day rule" is completed... the new head shaver will "know" whether 2 keep the new look or grow it out. i'm betting that U will keep it smooooth. Congratulation Nick, and welcome to SBGs. Your're looking great. I can see you are already comfortable with your bald head and there should be any problem keeping it smooth. Great work.
