Title: What's your biggest deterent from buying shaving products online?
Post by: Tyler on February 23, 2010, 11:46:44 PM
Hey guys, what keeps you from buying shaving products online?

I'm really bummed that shipping charges have gotten so high.  I try to order enough to get free shipping if it's an option.

It's definetly the shipping costs for me. I can usually buy another whole product for what the shipping costs are.

What he said, and they generally use UPS, and our local UPS, at least for residential is really poor.  The guy won't come in the yard bc he knows we have a Dobbie, and just leaves a pick up notice on the gate--just doesn't work for me.

Yep, shipping costs gets my vote as well.  My local drugstores keep putting all their head shaving products on clearance.  Which is good right now because I have been getting deals, but not so good later when my only option is ordering online.

The shipping charges are brutal.  And I'm not planning on spending so much $$ at one time to get the free shipping.  That and the wait time - I only buy when I am nearly out of something;  I would hate having to plan even further in advance :-(

Ebay shipping is usually free for blades, see my other post about increase in price of Fusion blades. But you have to hunt around on ebay and find the best price. My mama told me, you better shop around.

Shaving cream is so cheap I buy it local but most everything else I buy online, if you buy in bulk the price of shipping is often offset by the savings in local taxes.

Another vote for shipping costs.

1- Cost of Shipping
2- It takes too long to do all the searching, comparing, clicking, and paying when it's on line
When that is factored into the equation, on line buying can get rather expensive.
3- CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, etc.  has it all, right there on the the shelf.

If the price was the same or better as buying in the store, would you be more willing to buy if the shipping was free and relatively quick (say 3 to 4 days for delivery)?

I, for one, might be more inclined to purchase those products that I want/use on line, IF all those things were so.
The least important thing for me is the 3 to 4 day delivery time.   I think most of us would know further in advance when we need something, or want something.  Perhaps I'm in the minority there, but  I certainly don't plan a trip to CVS just to buy shave cream, blades, etc.

I'll only order online if I can't find it in the stores, or if its cheaper. When you figure in shipping it almost never is. If it's cheaper online I would wait a few days.

Exactly. Delivery time is not the main point here.

We have been paying VERY close attention to the postings about Shipping Costs and we agree with you. Beginning March 1st, Bald Guyz will be changing our shipping policy. As you all know the cost of US Mail, FedEx Ground/Home Delivery and UPS keep rising, and this does not sit well with us. We tried to offset the rising costs by providing product discounts and special offers but the shipping costs are way out of wack and eat up the savings to you.

So beginning March 1st we will be offering Flat Rate Shipping for all online orders. All orders, whether (1) item or 10 will be shipped for $2.95. This is a lower cost than shipping one tube of any of our products First Class Mail.  This offer is for orders shipped to the contiguous 48 states only.

We will keep this offer up for the month of March to see how it is received. If it goes well this will be our everyday program. We hope that you take advantage of this and we look forward to your comments.

Howard, that's great news!  I'll be sure to remind everyone when March hits.

I only buy on-line stuff I familiar with. I like to check ingridients, how it smels like, etc.
BTW, maybe somebody knows which store has HeadBlade Matt aftershave gel in stock?
I saw only shaving creme, which I don't need.

For me it is the security factor. I don't like giving out credit card information online. Identity theft being what it is I don't buy something online unless it is absolutely necessary.

I don't have an objection to buying online, I'm just one of those instant gratification kind of people.  I want it right now!  ;D

Oh, hammerdrill I used to feel the same way until one day I realized that ALL of our accounts, bank, retirement, credit cards, etc are all online anyway.  If someone wants to be you, they will succeed.  Buy from reputable companies that you are familiar with.

Shipping cost ... Instant gratification !!

I'd have to say that I didn't really think about it but shipping cost would be a deterrant.  But the real thing is I'm an instant gratification guy, too.  I even buy my glasses at one of those 1 hour joints.  I know I am paying more, but I don't have to wait a week, etc.

In my case where I live (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada) I could not find the headblade and/or blades, head slick etc anywhere locally so I had to order online. It took about 5 days from 1 province over which was kind of a bummer but when the stuff finally did arrive I was ok with the outcome.

I think my biggest thing about ordering online is not being able to check the quality (touch it first), or check for other products from same company (ie. Headblade).

The shipping aspect is something I just accept since most of the stuff I have EVER ordered online has come state side.

I am not deterred from ordering online I just wish I had a local solution

Shipping, and most shaving stuff I find online I can find locally for less. If I can find something made locally I will ALWAYS go for it unless it is a ridiculous price.
