Title: Balayam, the revoloutionary cure for baldness and hairloss?
Post by: Morthen on February 22, 2010, 06:01:08 AM
Hey guys, I encounter this video and website some time ago, but never thought to post it here to see your input

I'll just give you the website link and the youtube video, they pretty much speak for themselves

His website
http://www.balayam.com/

the youtube video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8Yf5lAhYkw

This video has had substantial comment discussion regarding this method of yoga regrowing your hair and stopping hair loss completely, someone claims that the thinning of their crown has completely filled in.

What do you guys think? :)

Me personally? I'm naturally extremely skeptical, but who knows nowadays. I imagine with the money the industry dealing with hairloss and treating baldness makes, that this is not that effective and this guy would have made an instructional dvd or something like that and become the richest man alive.

Only time will tell.

So whats your input?

UPDATE: Before insulting me, please refrain from doing so, I never said I condoned this, I merely thought it was interesting. Try to keep the discussion somewhat civil.

Well this really gets me rather irritated. :x!  The website starts off bad, claiming it has a "cure" then really goes off the deep end with, "Baldness is a diseases (sic) which bothered Yoga gurus in ancient times also and they found treatment for this omnipresent diseases in a very simple exercise which I call “BALAYAM”.  Getting beyond the turgid grammar of the article, the concept of disease is totally off base.  It is a genetic trait, not a disease.  It doesn't require any "cure" and no effective permanent means of altering the trait has been found.

I believe this is just another scheme to separate people from their money.  Sly is the only natural way to deal with mpb, unless you prefer to sport some version of the Bozo ring, with or without the "combover."

Baldness is not a disease, it is a blessing bestowed on the deserving.

I agree with Saintc... the word cure implies a disease or damaging condition. MPB is neither...... it just is what it is. How one deals with it is the real issue......

I'll give 5 free t-shirts to anyone who wants to try rubbing their nails for 2 hours a day for 1 year and reports the results.

I'm guessing I won't get any takers.

Now gentlemen. before you say its a money scheme. Remember, he has not made a single DIME off of this, the youtube video has no ads. the website was made by himself, He is not selling any products. So this is all an opportunity he is presenting to people without requesting any sort of money in return.

Thats the only reason I think that it may be somewhat believable

The fact that we are even discussing this on a forum called SlyBaldGuys is just a waste of forum space, thread needs to go bye-bye.

It's only slightly less believable than the tooth fairy.

If that is an attempt at humor pertaining to this, once again. Theres no risk to rubbing your fingernails, and he has no financial gain. And as for the guy that said it should not be on a forum called sly bald guys. How so? This is a forum to help men deal with hair loss(for the most part) by shaving their heads. I am not posting this to try to get anyone to do it I just wanted to see what you guys thought. I expected a bit more maturity from the sly community.

I did shave it previously, but havent shaved since then so its already grown somewhat, that is irrelevant to this topic.

Morthern, please forgive my thinly vailed attempt at sarcasm.  I realize that you, more than most on this forum, are still looking for some means of regaining the hair you've lost.  There just may be some benefit to this balayam means of revitalizing the folicles on your head.  I say for you, go for it!!  Take some before and after head pics and let us know how it works.  This may be the foothold you need to grow back what you've lost.  There are many natural things that have been beneficial, that the Western culture has turned a blind eye to; such as acupuncture, yoga, even chiropactic body adjustments.  So, give it a go!  It might work for you!  I'm sure there are others who want to know your findings.

I'm sorry, I totally didn't understand where you're coming from, I thought you put it there as a joke, and I took it as such!
I can understand your difficulty in accepting the fact of mpb, and obviously at this point in your life you're not ready to embrace sly.  As long as you don't get into plugs or drugs you probably need to search out for yourself every possible avenue that is put forward claiming to "solve" what we consider not to be a problem.
How much money you spend in this effort is related to your personal financial condition.  You have my best wishes, even though I know that the quest you are on is futile.

I choose to be sly and have no desire whatsoever to have hair again.  The freedom of being totally in control is beyond words.

I think people are still misunderstanding me, I do not practice balayam, I am well aware of the fact that I am going bald, im not searching for some miracle cure. I posted it merely to see the sly communities input, because all of you(or atleast most) were battling MPB at one point before shaving. I just wanted reactions, and I felt as if you are all mocking me by my posting it on here. I dont condone it, I dont practice it. Im not searching for a cure. Im well aware of my hairs inevitable fate. I am going to be shaving again soon.

I think we can conclusively say that the overall reaction to the video, the website and it's claims is that the people who have responded here do not believe in the claims of Balayam.

Thanks for letting us know about this particular non-scientific, unprovable, unverifiable bit of web crap.
