Hi guys I just joined I am 36, my name is Fred, it is just about 30 days now and I am a bit insecure, I think sometimes that maybe this look is not a good one on me. When I tried to go sly two years ago a lady receptionist at a doctor appointment I had said to me "don't feel bad not everybody can pull it off" This time I have a bit more confidence but I tend to be a nerdy guy and have trouble with the ladies thats why I am 36 and still single. Honestly guys tell me what you think, check out my photo, I appreciate your feedback. :) :XX

Welcome man!
To me you're looking very good with your sly dome. So my advise would be to not give up until you're certain that you don't like it. With every day you're pulling it off your confidence should increase a little bit.
Perhaps that will help you with the ladies, too.
Remember, we're always here to support you.
And what would the world be like without nerds? No computers, no atomic bombs ... ;D

As far as I'm concerned you look squared away ( except for the clutter in the background ) as for as the Nerdy Part, you'd be suprised how many self acclaimed "nerdy guys" that are on the board. O0

Thanks for the welcome brothers,
I am proud of myself for doing this. I used to color in the bald spot with this clinique junk and finally I could not cover it up and my hairline in the front became weird also. I however suffer from a poor self image problem because I feel I am not a good looking guy. I did very well in college and am a brainiac kind of guy, I often feel that my smarts are my saving grace to make up for what I feel is lacking in the looks department. I am hoping that spending time on this forum can give me the support from others and boost my self-esteem and confidence. Thanks,
Fred

I look at your pic and noticed you have a nice symmetrical, oval head that's not oblong in any direction with a forehead wide enough to wear a baseball hat without looking strange, flat ears that don't stick out at all, and a 5:00 shadow that shows you have enough facial hair for 3 guys to be able to grow any style they want. Your head's built the way I wish mine was built! Jeeze, I used to think I looked OK, but now you just made me feel like Quasimodo!
BTW, I think it's normal to feel strange after shaving your head. At times early on it seemed almost as unnatural as running around naked.

Welcome Fred!

Sly is a good nerd neutralizer. You look fine; it just takes a while to adjust to a new look. Most of us have been where you are right now. Don't listen to naysayers. Use this as an opportunity to experiment with some new looks and redefine yourself -- facial hair, new wardrobe, etc. It can make all the difference in the world. Also take a look at some of the pictures in the Before and After gallery. Do you see anybody who looked better in their before photo?

Fred, IMO your a nice looking guy who wears the Sly look like a champ. Sometimes we are our own worse critics. Hang in there. Your confidence will build in time. Like some of the guys have said, try some facial hair, new clothes etc. Your lucky, you have the brains and good looks too.

I think you look great. I'm having a hard time imagining you with hair.

Welcome, Fred!

a lady receptionist at a doctor appointment I had said to me "don't feel bad not everybody can pull it off"
This reminds me, for some reason, about a story I heard about Winston Churchill. He was apparently drunk at a party and was approached by a rather, to be polite, unattractive woman. She was aghast at his intoxication and made a point of registering her complaint with him. His response was something like "yeah b!t@h, but in the morning I'll be sober, yo' a$$ will still be fat and ugly".....or something like that.
On the one hand I think it would be cool to have a really hurtful comeback for every stupid comment that somebody has made about something that has anything to do with me. However that takes a lot of work with the brain and if I do that much brain work my brain starts to hurt. So I ask myself "are any of these people really worth a headache?". Usually the answer is no which means that I don't have to gird for war every time I venture out with my bald head.
Plus, the idea of preparing snappy comebacks for every fool that I run into tells me that I really do need to be on the defensive which should tell me that I'm doing something wrong. I prefer to let the occasional comment just go by knowing that the person who sent it my way means nothing more to me than the amount of breath they used to demonstrate their ignorance.

Looks fine actually, and f the nurse--no bedside much less in the bed manner IMO.
36, not married, not a big problem. You've only been sly for a month, often it takes more than 30 days to find the right woman--you'll find her, just don't let it be the one day you didn't shave so she can feel stubble >:D
One cousin didn't marry until 46, now two kids, one at fifty, so I had to--I kind of like doing this to him--reminded him he'd be 70 when his youngest was graduating from college >:D >:D
Maybe you might start up at a gym, shape up a little, get a bike and join a riding club, great ways to work off tension, and meet some new friends, even ladies!

welcome...u look fine.

OMG! Put a paper bag over your head! Don't forget the eyeholes, of course.
On the other hand, why not stop listening to doctor's receptionists and listen to the guys here?
Anyone can have hair on their head (some have less than others, of course). But only the bold can be Sly.
Your decision.

It funny about the confidence thing. The other day I lost my badge. A couple of the nurses found it and commented that I looked good with hair. They then said I should grow it back. I pointed out that if I did it would not be long before I had a really bad combover like some of the doctors. They then commented that I looked good with a shaved head as well. But I walked away wondering if they really meant it! Today, someone who hasn't seen me with a shaved head made a similar comment and I wondered the same thing! At some point you really just have decide that if this is what you want you're going to be happy and not look for outside validation. I've only ever seen one person who I though should not have his head shaved--but he had severe deformities of his skull!

Hey man,
you look great with a shaved dome, no lie. Keep it up!

I feel I am not a good looking guy.
It might not be obvious from my avatar pic, but you and I look a good bit alike. And I'm stunning. (We have pretty much the same nose, though I've got a mole to one side of it. Same shadow of a mustache. Same chin, though mine has some scars on it. You have better eyebrows than I do.)
I grow my hair back in the winter, so when I return to slydom in the spring I'll do a fresh picture.
