Title: Lines visible on side of head while trimming
Post by: sahampto on January 26, 2010, 12:43:04 AM
I have been trimming my hair for a few years now (Wahl clippers - 0 to 1/2 on the sides tapered into a 1 1/2 guard on the top) and it seems that in the past few months, I noticed cut lines on the sides and back of my head.  I never noticed them before and it seems that the only way I can semi-remove them is to take the hair on the sides of my head down to nothing. What's crazy is that I can use the same gauge guard (or even no guard - straight clippers), cut the sides and back of my head, and the lines still show up.  I know some men like taking it all off, but I don't.  I prefer the fuzz all over and using the 1/2 guard on the sides. But I don't want to have these ridiculous cut lines all the time.  I also realize that a skull/scalp is not symmetrical and that may be partially to blame, but I don't recall having them when I first started buzzing my head.

Any ideas what could be going on and any possible suggestions for getting rid of these (besides taking it all off)?  I have been beginning to wonder if my clippers could be the problem but I'm not sure.  Thanks!

Welcome to the Forum SH! Maybe your clippers need a little maintenance.... like new blades????

Yeah, I was going to suggest new blades as well.  Do you have picture so that we can see what you're talking about?

I agree with Mike and Tyler, and think you should check your blades as well.
Sounds like they may be uneven if you're getting lines in the hair other than where the clipper edge is.

Are they lined up properly?, or have you dropped the clipper lately? They may be bent or out of line.

I've used one of these for some time before I switched to the HeadBlade and found it really convenient and effective to use.

Thanks for the feedback!  I tried taking some pics but I can't see the lines in the pics.  I was thinking it could be something with the blades, but I hadn't thought about a misalignment.  I'll also check out the clippers you guys posted too.

Do you ever have problems getting an even cut with thos POC.  I still find they are not as good as the regular clippers.  Not bad, but I thought they would be better.

No problems getting an even cut. I use no guard and just keep moving it over my head until I feel like I'm done.

What I don't like is sometimes I forget to charge the battery and it won't turn on with the charging cord in. I'm sure there are better rechargeable clippers out there but these get the job done for me.

Yes that has happened to me before.  I was glad I had my other clipper.  They should have made it where you can use it with the plug.
