I have seen the light, and it is being reflected off of my shiny bald head! ;D That's right, the transformation is complete and I couldn't be happier, as you can tell by the grin on my face. You can probably also tell that I decided to keep my sideburns. I know it's not a very popular look among the bald community, but thats one of my main reasons for keeping them. I don't want to just become another face to anybody, I did this to stand out more. Plus I couldn't let go of them, they're just too much a part of me. But I could use some tips on stylin them though. Should I look them behind my ear a little? Any suggestions would be great.
My journey so far has not been as smooth as my head is, but it has been wholly fulfilling. For instance, one large bump I hit was the discovery of eczema on the back of my head :'( But I put some Nizoral on it and it has improved greatly in just one night, so I am hopeful that in a week it'll be completely gone.
But I'm not going to let anything harsh my mellow, not even the pimple that is situated directly on the top of my head! I guess I had all this coming to me though, I've always had good skin on my face so all that bad stuff had to go somewhere, it just chose the back of my head.
Right after I shaved it my scalp was numb, just like Robmeister said, but it was very soft and clammy too, almost like a baby's skin b@b~. At least that was my first impression of it. It always feels wet now, but I think that sensation will go away after a few days. It isn't as pale as I though it would be either, or rather my face is so pale that it makes my scalp not look so bad ;)! So I figure in a week of two, things will be as they should... bald and beautiful!
My family members are the only ones to see me so far and they've been pretty accepting of it. Although I almost had my cousin in tears when she found out. How was I supposed to know she liked my ponytail that much. Speaking of my tail, it is currently off to become what it's always dreamt of being... a wig! As for my friends, I'm not really sure how they'll react, but I'm not too concerned.
One thing that has made this truly bittersweet is my friend, the one who has cancer, has been told she only has about 2 months left. Her name is Claire and she is about 65 years old. It makes me sad to know that her time is drawing near, but I think I brought a smile to her face when she heard about my shaved head, and making her happy right know is all I can really do.
So thats been my life as a bald man so far, and I know that there'll be plenty more to talk about cause I ain't going back to hair any time soon. Being bald is just way to cool. O:O

Looks great Slowhand!!! Sorry to hear about your friends diagnosis.
-
First and most importantly slowhand, I'm very sorry to hear about your friend. She is really lucky to have you in her life and to be there for her. That's about the best thing any human being can do for another. It's an honor knowing you. Secondly, the sly look is great on you. Glad it all went so well. And leaving the burns is a sweet idea, gives character.

The bean looks great!!!
Very sorry about your friend.

Man, when I had burns with my bald head, I trimmed them just above my tragus, and left them at that. I've recently shaved them off though, I just got tired of all the detail work I had to do to keep them looking the way I wanted to.
I'm very sorry to hear about your friend, losing someone close to you is never an easy task.
-
Thanks for all the kind words about my friend guys, it's really nice of you all.
-
Slowhand - the dome looks great, along with the burns. Keep'em.
Sorry about your friend. I hope her pain can be controlled.

I'm very sorry to hear about your friend. It's good that she has someone like you in her life. You sound like a great guy. I wish her, and your heart, peace and harmony no matter what may come the next few months.
On a lighter note, the sly look fits you well bro. Peace.
-
Welcome, Slowhand. The baldness suits you.
So...with that name, are you a fellow guitarist?
-

Ya, I've been playing guitar for about 5 years now, and mandolin for about 1 year.
-
Slowhand, You are a Good Dude, your friend must be one hell of a Lady! 65 Years Young, I am sorry to hear her prognosis, but I am happy to hear that atleast she is going to have some great times up untill...
As far as the Look goes... You look solid with the bald look working for you. But I will say this, You need to do yourself a favor and grow a Goate/mustache pachage to go with it. It might look a little wierd if you keep the sides without something to other. Or go with the Mutton Chops, I know those also work really well. Peace
-
Nice. I never tried to play one of those.
I have been playing guitar for almost 20 years. Got my first at 16. I should be MUCH better than I am though. Either that or I need to go take some theory lessons. I have been in a slump for so long...just not learning anything anymore.

No worries my brother, it will come in time. All you need to do, I say shorten those badboys a little bit, so that they are not so prominent or high. I am a Big fan of the Wider than they are Long Look, also known as the Block Look. Hope it Helps O0

Welcome, slowhand!
Sorry to hear about your friend.
-
Hey Slowhand... nice to make your acquaintance. I also chime in on your friend's prognosis... very sad to hear.
On another thread you referenced "from up north", are you a fellow canuck and where from?
-
I'm from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. You know, the self proclaimed "center of the Canada!" ;D
I see your from out west Shiny. How far? Alberta, B.C.? I just came back from a ski trip in Alberta, and I gotta say I love that mountain air! Hope to move out there one day. ::)
-
Ya I temporarily reside in Oilberta. Just here for the $$$. Moving back home to BC ASAP. Probably another year out here and then make the move home and just come back here for the winter work seasons. I have been to the Sault (did I say that right?). Just passed through one day on my way back to Canada with a load.

my step sister lives in sylvan lakes, alberta. any of you know where that is?
-
Ya I got the dose while playing in a bar in Sylvan Lake back in the 80's. O0
