I let my hair grow back a month or two ago and have not shaved it since , do to the cold winter weather . Thinking of shaving it off all off again, getting sick of my thick hair plus like my head shaved. Any advice shaving your head during winter? Not sure if shaving my head will be good during the colder months like this.
-
Do it! It's as good as any time of the year. 8)

I believe there is never a bad time of year to shave your head.

Well, now you realize what an addiction a shaved head can be. You don't say where you live, but for me, I wear a fleece beanie if it's below 40F, and I'm going to be out for more than 5 10 minutes. It's easy it folds up in my coat pocket. And I've got a nice shiny dome to reveal when I pull it off--love the looks I get when people don't expect it. >:D

The worst part of shaving in the winter is when your toque (Its a Canadian thing) rides up because your head is so smooth.
The BEST part? Just one day of stubble and that sucker is LOCKED IN PLACE.

I'll get my beanie(that's not a LA term, and we do use a lot of French words here but toque isn't one of them) pulled down tight enough it doesn't pop off. But I'll never put up with stubble, aka velcro, just to avoid pulling the beanie down. On the other hand we never have to deal with the cold you guys do. >:D

LOL agreed, but I tend to be a little lazy in my head shaving sometimes, and now that I think of it there was this one time I almost snapped my own neck putting on a sweater that got caught on the "Scalp Velcro."
Explain THAT one to the medical examiner...

I also dislike trying to keep a knit cap in place on a slick melon, but it's preferable to enduring an entire day with stubble. I don't feel clean if I haven't shaved.

Since it's been a couple of months with your hair grown back, I would recommend you wait till the weather warms up a little. Your head will freeze if you shave it now. It's like when I had a beard and I shaved it in February; my face froze! My head and face now are accustomed to the cold and it doesn't bother me. Just don't forget us Sly Bald Guys and what your were meant to be come the spring!
Next winter don't let your hair grow back! :x!

I would agree with ChallengeMe: if you keep SLY through the winter you hatdly notice the cold, but once you've let the hair grow back your scalp will become 'weak' and soft and will hate to be exposed to the wintry weather.
If you don't mind feelin a bit chilly up top, then go for it, otherwise leave it till slightly warmer weather. 8)

Shaving in the Winter is pretty much like shaving any other time. You may need to apply a bit more lotion if you feel you have very dry skin.
Just be sure to wear your beanie/skully/toque, knit cap or whatever you prefer to call it. It really makes all the difference. O0

I think winter is a GREAT time to shave your noggin. Your tan has faded so there's a lot less difference between your face and your scalp.
If you want to be bald, get bald!

I shave every day as I cannot stand the velcro feel - - - -the damn knitted hat slides off and I put it back on - -Just one of the advantages of being "SEXY BALD"

Even w/ one day of velcro, that's happened to me at the gym, trying to get my sweaty t-shirt off. I must look spastic wiggling around fighting to get it over the back of my head. I've had thoughts of asking for help sometimes, but I've never actually done it. :D :D :D

Hey Geg,
No doubt about it, this has been a cruel cold one in the northeast
But, being SLY is an ALL WEATHER DO
There is nothing better for me than that brisk air on the dome
Good Luck...Only 10+ weeks for pitchers/catchers

Slowly adjusting to the brisk air here in New England... started with a toque (that I made myself), and now to a Red Sox cap. Maybe since it's finally the January thaw, I may expose the head-flesh fully and get used to it! :-)

I live in Chicago & there are weeks during the Winter that we don't get out of the teens' & at night can get into the single digits or below.. but for some reason I have been able to adapt to it -I almost NEVER wear a hat or cap, but I do wear ear-muffs when it gets that cold. I think when you keep other parts of your body warmer, it makes up for any heat that you lose from having a bald head. So, basically what I do is try to compensate for the heat loss by wearing layers of clothes, gloves, ear-muffs. If it's above 20f, I don't wear the ear-muffs. But it's really up to individual choice. I was born in the Winter & actually prefer the extremes of Winter more than I do the extremes of the Summer heat/humidity..!

No problem shaving in winter. I live in New England so when its cold you would wear a hat anyway. The only drawback is a knit cap sliding up on a fresh shaved dome. But get a little stuble and its like velcro - hat never moves.
-
I live in good ole Winnipeg Manitoba Canada where the weather goes from 40-45 below zero in winter to 90+ degrees in summer.
I do not like the velcro thing either. today at work I was taking off my pullover sweater and wrenched my neck. I just shaved the head the night before and that stubble is very unforgiving when it comes to pullover anything.
I do like the velcro when I do get the toque on the head cause it holds in place nicely.
I wish there was a way to stsy "smooth" for more than 8 hours at a time, the stubble drives me bonkers to the point where I am making head shaving an obssession :/O
I even think the girlfriend is starting to get annoyed a lil with all my talk about it >:(
-
I let it grow during late fall and winter. Just shaved mine a few weeks ago. Only a few weeks of winter left
-
I like the way the stubbles hold on a hat on them cold wintery days--since im outside most of the day... :)

I suggest a compromise. Rather than shave with a razor and deal with the cycle of slick and velcro whilst wearing a beanie, touque or whathaveyou, get a beard and moustache trimmer and use that with no guard to clip your hair. It'll still look to the lay person like you shave your head, but the 1/16" hair won't grab your knit clothes the same way. Then when the weather gets warmer and the caps go away, shave it clean. Good luck!

Heeeey, that's not a bad idea...
-
So what does buzzing with your basic hair clippers get you? 1/16"? More? ??? Are there advantages to a beard trimmer?
-
eeep it's summer over here in Oz and i'm yet to experience my first winter bald so it should be interesting.....
-
Winter works for me & my head, as sunburn is not such a problem. We get very mild winters so no real need for a beanie.
Our coldest day would never be less than 50F.
-
Gotta keep the melon slick - - I shave everyday - - It has been warmer here in New York so no hat is needed - and I can show off the slick melon - -

I get a lot of comments and questions..."Aren't you cold?"...during the winter months...
Not really, if I was...I would put a hat on...
