Hello fellow sly brothers,
I am hoping someone here can help settle an argument for me. Does anyone know if you have an HD tv and watch a program being broadcast in HD using basic cable are you seeing the program in HD or do you have to subscribe to the HD package or watch it using an antenna? I thought in order to get HD you had to pay for it if you use DISH, DirecTv or cable and received it free if you used an antena. Any help settling this argument would be greatly appreciated.

You have to have a cable box capable of picking up high definition channels; there is usually an extra monthly charge associated with that, unless your cable provider is offering some sort of promotional package. The way it works is, you'll get all of your regular channels, and the HD version, if there is one, will be on a separate channel. So you'll get your regular ABC station, for example, in standard defnition, and it should also be on another channel in high definition.
Hope this helps.

Razor is correct BUT............. you can also get HD programming FREE thru an over-the-air antenna. I have one and draw in MANY additional channels that program in HD.
