Last year I wrote a pretty extensive post on my experience with having a DUI and my thoughts subsequently on drinking and driving. I won't write all that again this year but take it from me..drinking and driving is not only STUPID but SELFISH as well. So think about others on the road tonight. Other than your own, you might save the life of someone's son, daughter, mom, dad, brother or sister by making a smart decision. Don't make a mistake you might regret. Let someone else drive or just stay home if you plan on drinking tonight.

Gredat advice John! We're having a few friends over..... and all of us are old enough to know when to stop and chill out. Any drunks will have their keys confiscated by me personally.

Good and timely post. We were going out tonight, but the party was canceled, one of the hosts' son was killed this past weekend, buried today,19 years old, alone in the car and a single car accident, no other parties involved. Freshman in college, leaves behind his friends, who were at the party--and no one took the keys--family and family friends. Chilling end to 2009.
RIP
Think, really think about when it's time to hand over the keys, or take the first drink if you're insisting on keeping the keys.

Agreed, drinking my T&W at home, boring every one on the net tonight, (No jail time for that)
Better than driving the 6+ miles home, with both hands on the wheel, and trying to keep the truck at 55 (or so), in my lane, and watching the oncoming lane while watching whats coming up behind me. (Not fun, been there, done that)
