I had to go the "Scrooge" route, this year. Things are very, very tight for us, this Xmas.  My wife and I have agreed that we'd get each other nothing, and the grown kids get nothing, either. The grandbabies got a little something, though.

We'll have a few friends and family over for a good home-cooked meal, and enjoy good company. O0

Just remember Scott...... all those gifts really mean nothing. The last scene in "It's a Wonderful Life" says it all.....

Two of my favorite quotes from that last scene:

"A toast to George, the richest man in town" ( by George's brother Harry)
"Remember George, no man is a failure who has friends" (by Clarence the Angel)

Trust me brother, I know! At least we have friends and family to gather 'round us, and a place of our own to gather in...  I am by no means down, or really "humbug." Spending quality time with good people is always to be treasured  O0

Actually just finished last night online.  Gift giving is going to be sparse this year.  Even though I've gone back to work it'll take me about a 3 months to get back on firm financial footing.

I absolutely detest shopping   So all year long, as I find an unusual gift I know someone on my list would enjoy I buy it then and put it away This way I get something with a lot of thought into it and not a last minute thing   And the added bonus is that I am always done long before Christmas and can truly relax and enjoy the season

Aged parent (nonagenarian) says, "No presents, please."

Brother and I have decided that long-distance (1200 miles) present-giving is pointless.

The two people I buy for have been bought for.  Mostly.  But we exchange on Twelfth Night, not Christmas, so post-Christmas bargains may attract my attention and wallet.

Snow is picking up here.

None of those quite fit me.  We went to Austin and spent a day at the Outlet Malls in San Marcos and got a lot of stuff, but I still had to go on the internet for somethings.  I'm still picking up stuff though, bought another little gift for wifey, still waiting for the last minute mark downs on something for daughter and son-in-law, and also for the other child.   It just never really stops until we head out for the Christmas Eve open houses and Midnight Mass.  Christmas puts a lot of miles on the car, belt busting calorie party feasts, and somehow it all comes together Christmas morning.  That's one of the Christmas miracles I really am amazed about.

Mrs. Hammer usually does all the shopping...but today I did go with her and my daughter to our local mall.  Man what a madhouse. I actually found myself getting a case of claustrophobia.

90% Finished ... I did some major damage (to my Visa and unsuspecting bystanders) as I did a whirlwind spree of Macy's, Dillard's, Wal-Mart (ugh) and Tagget today!

This Christmas is going to be pretty darn easy... I've been out of work for a year so we're not exchanging presents this year.  No shopping, expensive dinner or even a tree.  We were done before we started!   :*))

I took advantage of the pre-holiday sales in late October. Got some good buys then, and was able to finish all my gift buying by Black Friday.

The Lovely Mrs. Schro & I aren't exchanging gifts (being married to me is gift enough for her!).

I've done some of the shopping thru the 'net and a little here & there. TLMS is going to do the bulk of it the next 2 days (god bless her) as I'm going to take the kids to visit their uncle (my bro) while I work in San Francisco.

The two gifts that I know the kids are gonna love....I got my son a real catcher's mit. As good of a soccer player he is, he loves baseball and is a phenomenal athlete. He loves playing catcher. I'm going to be a coach on his team and am really looking forward to spending time with him.

For my daughter, I decided to get her a jr. membership at our golf club (so, I have a reason to get in my once a week round of golf). She is very interested in competitive golf, has the right frame of mind for the game, and has an excellent golf swing (seriously, not just a proud papa talking). A friend of mine that "had a cup of coffee" on the LPGA tour has worked with her a bit and said "you don't have to do a lot with her golf swing".

Merry Christmas to all of you!

I also tried telling my lovely wife that being married to me was Christmas gift enough...... shekind of went "HAH!" then looked me square in the eyes and said, "You better get to the Mall".......

My wife and I haven't exchanged gifts since we had children.  We focus on them.

My family is fairly large, about 20, so we only buy for the "kids" (15 and under).  There is only one in this category this year!

So, it's been easy going this year.  Mrs. Slick and I sent the kids to her parents two weeks ago and did the Santa Clausing, so we're done!  A weekend without the kids - we gave each other "gifts" while the kids were gone! ;)  If you know what I mean........

Done -- except for some gift cards for an elderly neighbor for the places I know she likes to eat.

This year's Holiday jams (which I give out to neighbors and co-workers) include: 10-chile Jelly (nuclear! chiles from my patio), Loquat Jelly (harvested from my backyard), Berry/Cranberry Jam, Spiced Cherry Jam, and Caramel Apple Topping.

Almost done shopping.   Bought most gifts online although we did make one trip to the mall Saturday.   My wife is going to pick up a few odds and ends still, but I believe the majority of our shopping is finally done.

I wish I was one of your neighbors Bear! I LOVE jams..... and Chile jelly is a favorite of mine!!!!!! A friend introduced me to chile jelly a few years back, though a fairly mild version.

All to be done yet, the malls here are a nightmare at Xmas. It's summer and it's hot, the squabbles in the car parks are enough to douse the holiday cheer, especially after someone takes that one park that you have just spent 20 minutes looking for. I will do it 23rd and go to the mall late at night (24hr trading).  Get in and out, I have no idea what I am getting for anyone.
Merry Christmas ! #3l*

My wife does all the shopping.  We only shop for my daughter so it's pretty easy.  The families are having trouble putting food on the table so we tell them "no gifts this year"(I can't even afford to give them a can of beans for christmas with my wife getting layed off and my getting hurt and being out of work.

The closest option was the scrooge route. MY family is all over the place and I have no kids(that I know of) so no need to shop all I did on christmas was sleep allllllllllllllllllllll day, it was awesome!
