Yes Ive had a barbershop straight razor headshave
-
Never have, but I certainly wouldn't mind one from a fella who knows what he's doing
-
I had a face shave with a straight razor years and years ago in Barcelona, Spain. I had lost my razor somehow and at the time Spain was not in the Common Market--US razors were an arm and a leg! So I had a barber shave me, I didn't need a shave for days. I would gladly like to have that experience w/ my dome, gladly. Now anybody willing to foot the bill for an exploratory trip to Barcelona--I'll do the work gladly if they will. ;D

Many years ago had a great face shave at the barber shop at Union Station in DC.

I used to get this done once or twice year as a treat. Went to place called "The Male Image". There was a woman there (Colleen?) who was very good. She had the heated shaving cream and the towel warmer. Really knew what she was doing. She would give me the full treatment, head, face (in the spring it would be time to shed the beard). It would usually take about a half-hour. That place closed some time ago and I've no idea where she went. I let another barber try last year but it was horrible. There is a place close by run by a Dominican gentleman and they do a lot of razor work. I may give them a shot in the spring.

Something I have thought of and I am sure the dome feels great after the shave - -I am trying to find a barber that does it - - - -the barber I went to does not shave a bald dome - - - -I look forward to having it done
-
A lot of barbers are afraid to do it.
-
Very interesting - -I would not think that but I understand - -I wonder what a barber would charge for a head shave with a straight razor
-
I've heard several guys say they were disappointed in the straight razor/barber shop experience. It sounds like it's a lost art?
I had always wanted to try a straight razor, hot towel head shave but haven't found a barber shop that still uses the straight razor.
I'll keep looking and maybe one day give it a try. I'd love to be able to spoil myself once in a while! O:O

one of these days!! it's on my list for sure!

There's a barber shop in one of the casinos in Las Vegas that reserves Saturdays for head shaves. Costs $60. I am told that they have people who actually fly in for the head shave! I didn't have my head shaved last time I was there. Maybe next time I will.

I got my head shaved by a barber in the Art of Shaving store in between the Luxor and Mandalay Bay. Is that the one you're talking about?

Nope, never have. A big part of what I love about the sly lifestyle is the DIY ethic, but I'd like to let a barber who knows what he (or she) is doing have a whack at it.
-
Sure have! i've had a face shave and when i took the first plunge into being bald 2 months ago i wen back there as i wanted to do it properly and had the straight razor headshave. It was certainly a sensation and the barber seemed surprised that a bloke with a full head of hair was doing it, he even said do you want your hair back when he was done haha!
-
I've heard the same thing from quite a few guys that have had a barber shop shave. They weren't that satisfied with it.
-
It's on the bucket list. Got to do it once.
-
I had it done once, but I wouldn't do it again, at least not with the way my beard and scalp hair grows. I have a few problem areas where the hair grows in different directions than the rest which requires me to shave them in a different direction to avoid ingrowns. I think it would be very hard for a barber to do that without me annoyingly micromanaging every stroke. The one time I did get a straight blade shave, I had a ton of ingrowns.
-
Even though my only straight razor headshave by a barber was a mediocre one, I'd still like to try it again. Just by a different barber.
